• 83-Year Old Suing Apple After Walking into Glass Doors at Retail Store

I'm trying to visualize the scenario, and I can't in any way make this work out. And how hard did she smash her face for the suing-decision to come to mind?
Are you fucking dumb there's a foot tall metal rail at the bottom, even if the glass wasn't there you'd trip over that. The woman is dumb and senile.
So everyone who has an accident is dumb. You're deluded, she's not even a young person either...
It would be fine if she sued just for medical expenses. A broken nose doesn't cost 75000.
I guess. I was just being vindictive towards Apple and my logical world view kind of left
Fair enough - when Apple abuses the system like that we end up wishing for payback at some point.
Why is everyone rooting apple? Sure it is a ridiculous court case but apple honestly deserves it. I don't care if two wrongs don't make a right, they make something that is good enough for me. Apple won't learn from this but its nice to see their hive getting thrown at with rocks don't you think?
LOL, It's like a bird or fly hitting the window except it's with a human

What Apple does deserve is to realize that accidents will happen, and covering your building in semi-transparent glass with barely noticeable stickers is a sure-fire way to make such accidents have far worse consequences.

Nice.

"Apple won't learn from it" Yeah man because apple is one being!
So now you personally insult him. Nice.
good fuck him
I'm more interested in what those balls in the image are for
So if you crash through the glass, the balls are there to catch your fall, as you hit the balls, the balls go everywhere attacking the customers and the Apple products, so Apple can SUE YOU for damaging their shit.
So now you personally insult him. Nice.
At what point did I insult him? I clearly stated at the beginning of the sentence that I don't know how he walks, but I certainly don't walk like any person of which I described.

Let's also not forget that the color isn't so much different from the balls behind it. I've seen metal rails like that plenty in my city, and they're usually colored yellow/gold, which makes them stand out well enough for you to notice them amongst the concrete.

Unless the door handles are also made of glass, and/or are tiny, I can't see how this'll work. Even if you don't see the glass, a floating door handle might strike some people as odd. If you didn't see it, obviously your eyesight isn't as good as you're making out.
Brb, going to run into a wall. See you guys at the country club [editline]26th March 2012[/editline] Brb, going to run into a wall. See you guys at the country club

Getting compensated for your medical costs is fine but A, I find it hard to believe that a broken nose sets you back 75k and B, there's no way in hell you're going for 'justice' when you demand over 1 million dollars, that's just greed.

An old lady crashing into a glass wall seems very plausible, but 75 Gs just to fix a broken nose? That thing better have been reinforced with gold, because I can't imagine that costing more than, say, $2,000, and only if it was exceptionally bad.
In my opinion I say they deserve the suit for placing glass in such a way. Glass is a deadly material and it's almost perfectly transparent properties makes it even more deadly. The way apple dealt with it by adding small white stickers is very lacking on effort as well, they're not exactly colorful enough to stand out nor are they accustomed to every height. I can easily imagine a young child speeding towards the glass trying to grab the balls just because they look like toys only to smash straight into the glass panes, causing serious harm. Hopefully if they lose this lawsuit they may think it's cheaper for them to tint the glass to be less transparent than to put up with another lawsuit.
is this a satire post
is this a satire post
I can assure you it is not. I do realize a lot of places decorate their shops with full glass walls, but many have colorful stickers and posters decorating them. And plenty even have fair sized brick wall below which makes them stand out easier to the eye. One of my friends actually ran through a closed sliding glass door, by misinterpreting that it was open. He ended up with a few scratches and a fair amount of repair money to pay out to his parents.
Well, it makes about as much sense as the stuff Apple tries to sue for.
Apparently breaking your nose is worth 75k in medical care and 1m in punitive now
Although, I still hope she wins. Its not like Apple can't live without a million less. They'd look better if they made her drop the case by offering to pay for themselves.
Although, I still hope she wins. Its not like Apple can't live without a million less.
Why do they have to try and act slick about everything they do... it's just a sticker.
My god are you serious

The worst case of scenario would be that the child would hit the glass and get a bump on his head, that's about it.

Depending upon the size and weight of the child. And depending upon where and what angle they hit the glass.
If you're walking into a store fast enough to slam into a glass wall hard enough to break your nose, you should probably slow your roll. Also, did she think it was a fucking open market or something? Of course it has a front entrance!
