The transition has already begun with services like BT Vision and Sky and their online services becoming more and more popular. It isn't watching it on youtube, but the feed is being sent over a internet connection.
youtubes not bad if all you want to do is watch some videos, which what it was made for really
The problem is, it's really hard to find new things to watch in that mess. The front page is basically only full of Vlogs or news (sometimes there's a freddiew or a ytp appearing), nothing is done to endorse creative and interesting channels which is really annoying.
When google bought youtube I was all like "oh fuck yeah, the site will always be up, awesome accessibility, they'll correct everything that's wrong !"
A few years later, they raped the website with copyrights, pissed over the little users and pushed random people to pollute their own site to make money.
You can't avoid copyrights unless you enjoy paying for all your lost lawsuits.
Why can't people understand that google is FORCED to remove the videos or pay the fine. They can't resist arrest either.
I would say the shittiest thing is how they're changing everything every 2 days. Ads that are 30 seconds for a 15 second video and yada yada.
Ad block plus works wonders.
Its a video hosting site, it does that well. Who gives a shit about the other stuff. When it comes down to it it is the best service for sharing and watching videos.
I don't see how a site like YouTube can suddenly be lame, you don't see people switching image hosting sites on a regular basis because they think its lame do you.
I do, because watching videos on youtube is annoying as shit now
Ad block plus works wonders.
Unless you visit the actual channel page in which it doesn't block shit. least for me it doesn't.

There's a difference between enforcing copyright and allow anyone, anywhere at anytime to run a video or a whole channel to the ground. Rather recently, a guy decided to make all youtube poops featuring a foundation repair ad disappear because apparently he was in it and didn't like having his face displayed everywhere (I insist that the source was an ADVERTISEMENT at first which alone destroys his "I don't want people to see my face" argument). The guy appeared for about 5 seconds in the ad and yet he was able to fuck up a lot of videos (a lot of which were actually very funny and with a lot of work put into them).
By allowing this Google basically guarantees fraud on the website. They really should put limitations on who can actually do copyright claims and put the video down, so random people can't claim they are someone and get a whole video/channel erased from the database because supposedly, they are concerned by it.
Plus, youtube actually did some copyright protection before - videos including copyrighted audio such as uncredited music were muted, but the video was still watchable - which allowed users to change the video without losing every setting/their viewcount/etc. Now it's a straight-up removal, sometimes with a ban of the user as well.

Search for what ? "creative videos" ?
Text
There's a difference between copyrights and privacy. If my face appears in a video that offends me( and knowing the nature of poops, it does) I'd request a removal too. Just because he starred in an ad means jack shit, he still has his rights to privacy.
As for the new straight removal, yeah that sucks. Not sure why they didn't like the old system.

I don't see how any of the new features of YouTube (apart from ads) can make watching videos annoying. You aren't forced to read comments or look at the like/dislike bar.
All I see is this being good for lesser-known artists that don't earn that much money, unless i'm missing something

These channels are being commissioned from major corporations, not users.
