the game itself won't be on the steam store in Aus, but foreign cd keys will still activate.

HM1 doesn't even have a retail edition I don't see 2 being any different
Yeah I was wondering how it would work, I guess the only risk is customs can technically seize the vinyl when it comes over but they are to worried about things like guns and drugs and the like, I got a copy of American Psycho (book) and its banned here, also my mate got the banned mortal combat and we all got the gore version of left for dead from overseas when it was censored so really all this does is cause piracy and if it was coming to console, hurts the console players. Its an exercise in futility really.
Didn't he just describe most Tarantino movies? Is Tarantino banned in Australia?
No, because there's a massive double standard in the way the ratings board operates.
Games are always judged more harshly than movies when it comes to sex and drugs.

Because it's a choice, "you can have sex with an NPC in the game".
Yeah, but you can always avoid it. You can always avoid watching a movie that has a sex scene which offends you, so what's the big idea here?
I find it rather funny that games like this are banned to adults in a place like Australia were you can drink and whore to your hearts content like a Bogan who spent a month in the mines.
when I get my hands on this game i'm making a parliament house custom level
i'll have no issue with paying for a censored version then just pirating the uncensored version.
official statement from devolver digital
We are aware of the recent report published by the Australian Classification Board in regards to Hotline Miami 2 and have been in communication with them. As such, we and Dennaton Games would like to clarify a few things:
First, to clear up any possible misconceptions, the opening cinematic that was first shown in June of 2013 has not changed in any way. We also want to make clear that players are given an choice at the start of the game as to whether they wish to avoid content that alludes to sexual violence. The sequence in question is presented below in context, both after choosing the uncut version of the game and after choosing to avoid content that alludes to sexual violence.
Second, in response to the report itself, we are concerned and disappointed that a board of professionals tasked with evaluating and judging games fairly and honestly would stretch the facts to such a degree and issue a report that describes specific thrusting actions that are not simply present in the sequence in question and incorrectly portrays what was presented to them for review.
Though we have no plans to officially challenge the ruling, we stand by our developers, their creative vision for the storyline, its characters and the game and look forward to delivering Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number to fans very soon.

What a legend
Let's make a new thing "classification board classification board" where in this board puts ratings on classification boards based on how big a bunch of lying tumblr feminazi catering bunch of old whitehaired cockfarts from ancient rome they are.
I'd refuse classifying the australian classification board.
I'm pretty certain that the people on Tumblr hate old whitehaired cockfarts just as much as we do, and the aforementioned cockfarts certainly aren't the kind of people who cater to feminists of any sort :v:

That is amazing.
Hotline Miami won't be free, it cost money and therefore qualifies under being illegal if you used another service to get it for free (warez)
Also with your "bullcrap", it's a law, you're not allowed to promote illegal activity at all
Illegal activity includes encouraging people to murder, rape, steal, use the internet for explicit purposes, encourage piracyetc. this should be fairly obvious
[editline]15th January 2015[/editline]
not like they will be fined or anything if they say pirate the game but the government could chase them up for it
doubt it
argument is dumb
So let me get this straight, you think:
Step 1: Sell a censored version of the game
Step 2: Upload a fix yourself, the creator of the game
Step 3: Give that fix away for free
is pirating something?
lmao
What if they couldn't figure out how to use the computer so they just got a secretary to google reviews of it and they only found the tumblr stuff?

Dennaton have always been pretty lax when it comes to piracy. Here's what Jonatan said about the first game:
Is this Australia or North Korea? we have a R18 for a reason, it took a long time, fucking use it
Oh don't worry we use it, you walked in to an EB any time lately? The classification board is putting that R18+ hard to work on a bunch of games that could have previously been classified MA15+. Seriously look at this shit:

are you fucking kidding me?
Just in case anyone was wondering these are the brave men and women who protect Australians from games like Hotline Miami 2. The youngest member on the board is a 34 year old soccer mum.
you're still promoting people to pirate content regardless if its yours or not
the law doesn't say "it's fine if its your material"
You are not allowed to encourage anyone to do it, it's against the law
The act of torrenting isn't illegal. Also yes it does, you're not pirating something if you're distributing it for free through a medium. That's like saying that because people use cars for crimes, the act of owning a car is a crime and you're enabling criminals.

the sad thing is without R18+ people would have to pirate the walking dead season 2 as well.
Should there be a rule saying that the members of the board have to have played and completed at least one video game.
They have so much power over video games and I'm willing to bet a majority of them barely know anything about them.
