he's actually getting millions of dollars to run an entire election campaign political donations + book deal + talk shows + paid speaking gigs
He doesn't actually get to keep the donated money... it all has to be spent on his campaign. And the guy was already a millionaire with a pretty distinguished career, why would he pull a stunt like this if it would cost him his reputation? Regardless, and I said this before, it's just not acceptable for pundits to completely discredit a candidate's entire campaign with the absurd excuse that "its an art project olololol" or that "its a practical joke hurr durr." Even if this is just "an art project," as the pundit in the video put it, it is his right to do so, and it's just plain childish to make fun of him because of that.
I don't blame him for the pokemon quotes, theres some pretty profound stuff in there. But yeah he's just a big joke.

She was making the argument that he cant honestly believe what he says because it is so lacking in consistency and intelligence. Stop quote mining and enjoy the full context of the video.
Palin was even more obvious if you are thinking of it this way. I mean I thought she was bad on purpose. Like the people pulling the strings wanted an easy win for Obama.
but dismissing a political candidate's entire campaign as nothing more than an "art project" is a pretty shoddy and even slanderous thing to say.
oh boo hoo your side gets to call obama a secret socialist muslim who wants to form death panels to decide when elderly people die and bring sharia law to the united states, and depict him as an ape or african witch doctor on signs talking about white slavery and calling him obongo I think the other side should get to use a sense of humour (because we actually have one) against republicans
This guy is incredibly intelligent, he was a mathematician in ballistics, CEO of Godfathers, Deputy Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and was CEO/President of National Restaurant Association as well.
The first I've never seen proof of. As much as people like to throw that out there, his biography claims he worked "developing fire control systems"- at the time he would have been doing it, the hard math in the field was already done, and he likely wasn't there for the digital transition. Complex ballistic math is one thing, glorified IT on existing computers with existing equations is another. Being capable of handling basic applied math and failing to understand anything more complex is fairly common- look at the average investor. He's got a few functioning neurons, but "incredibly intelligent" is a huge stretch.

if rachel maddow was a professor at a uni i would take her class.
I would agree, but he was CEO of Godfather's Pizza. So I think he really is nuts, but he doesn't realize it. If it weren't for that, Maddow would be right.
it's not her report on herman cain, but the way she talks. it's not boring.
You're joking, right? Are you saying it doesn't take a lot of intelligence to run a bank or corporation?
Yes. It only looks like magic if you've never done it, son.
Yes. It only looks like magic if you've never done it, son.
Oh, ok, you are joking.
If you ask me, the Pokemon bit connected a lot with younger demographics, something the Republican party has always had difficulty with.
yeah uh the younger demographics don't take the republican party seriously.
-inhales slowly- no. I'm saying that every time I try and defend anything remotely close to conservatism, i'm painted as a bible thumping mega-conservative super-republican and people reply with "So what damage do gays cause then?" and "So you hate poor people then?" and my personal favorite "I want you to look a minimum wage part time worker in the eye and tell him its his fault he has that job". Even better, every time I say "Hey, I'm not a republican, i'm kinda inbetween" it either gets ignored or responded to with "Of course you are, don't lie" as if there is no other alternative to bleeding heart liberalism than to be a bible-snorting mega republican.
US conservatives will always be derided on this forum because it is largely formed of countries that are farther left on the political spectrum, along with your friendly neighborhood liberal/democrat/progressive.
I hated this guy ever since I became aware of the "9-9-9 Plan" which is just some more buzzword bullshit to make it seem like "Oh I have a plan to fix everything!" This guy is a complete moron and if he was IRL trolling the entire time, well fucking played.
clearly he's "just an art project" to satirize political debates on Facepunch. dont take anything he says seriously because he isnt real. :downs: I don't think Cain will win the election or even the primaries, but dismissing a political candidate's entire campaign as nothing more than an "art project" is a pretty shoddy and even slanderous thing to say. If you ask me, the Pokemon bit connected a lot with younger demographics, something the Republican party has always had difficulty with.
Would it make you feel better if I dismissed his entire campaign because I don't like his platform or the man in general?
US conservatives will always be derided on this forum because it is largely formed of countries that are farther left on the political spectrum, along with your friendly neighborhood liberal/democrat/progressive.
Or maybe because it seems like US conservatives are stupid beyond belief.

[editline]6th November 2011[/editline]
Would it make you feel better if I dismissed his entire campaign because I don't like his platform or the man in general?
Yes, that's quite an acceptable reason to dismiss his campaign.
I bet Herman Cain is secretly getting funded by the Democratic Party just so he wins against all the other Republicans and has no chance against Obama, thus insuring Obama wins.
You're joking, right? Are you saying it doesn't take a lot of intelligence to run a bank or corporation?
my dad owns a small business and he's not the smartest guy in the world it's number crunching and people skills bro
Or maybe because it seems like US conservatives are stupid beyond belief.
As if they're intelligent in Europe or Asia?
As if they're intelligent in Europe or Asia?
Probably relatively.
Or maybe because it seems like US conservatives are stupid beyond belief.
Well yeah duh.
oh boo hoo your side gets to call obama a secret socialist muslim who wants to form death panels to decide when elderly people die and bring sharia law to the united states, and depict him as an ape or african witch doctor on signs talking about white slavery and calling him obongo I think the other side should get to use a sense of humour (because we actually have one) against republicans
You shouldn't bring this down to "my side versus your side". It makes you as bad as the Republicans.
You shouldn't bring this down to "my side versus your side". It makes you as bad as the Republicans.
I could kick orphans in the face and then light their puppies on fire and I'd still only be 3/5 as bad as republicans
I saw that segment, it was definitely entertaining. Sadly for the rest of us, I think Cain really IS serious, as are his supporters. The GOP has really gotten that crazy.
Oh, ok, you are joking.
No, really. They have teams of people, the math is split up, a lot of it is preexisting shit, and an absolutely staggering amount of it is done via analysis software. If you ascribe any degree of intelligence to a corporate executive or banker then you don't know what their job actually is. In particular, being a CEO is almost a no-work affair depending on the company (and it also can be extremely intensive, but not everyone wants it to be or has that much personal investment in their job.) You act like most professions aren't by-the-numbers shit these days. Everything's been distilled to its core components, you have analysts in every field, and all you really have to do is know how graphs work and how to talk to people on the phone. The guys at the top aren't the ones making shit happen.
Probably relatively.
Try to imagine Vietnamese or Italian Conservatism.
He is making a joke of American politics, well more than it is already. What about that commercial where it has his aid smoking a cigarette?
