or maybe the guy was a complete asshole to her or did something horrible and she so was sick of his shit she wasn't thinking straight?
seriously why does facepunch always jump to the "string them up" response ..they haven't exactly given us a lot of useful information
Or maybe the guy was in a time of great need and she was so twisted and full of shit she talked him into committing suicide out of malice?
Seriously, why do you have jump in and put the guy's character into question... The article says right fucking there that he wanted to back out only to have her coerce him right back in.
I've only read page one but has anyone considered the remote possibility he's one of the minority of people who had previously abused suicide threats to manipulate people? Those people exist, particularly when your talking about high school kids.
It's a remote and unlikely possibility but one we should keep in mind before condemning her as a heartless bitch.

Even a chronic liar has emotions. Emotions that he/she may not be able to express in ways other than to make a desperate cry for attention. Something should have clicked in her head when her boyfriend was expressing suicidal thoughts to her in an attempt to get help (regardless if it were genuine or not). However, a chronic liar also wouldn't follow through on an actual suicide attempt unless they were legitimately suicidal. It's not something that's decided upon lightly, it's usually an irrational decision when under duress; having someone you care for tell you to end yourself isn't an easy thing to cope with.
It's not manslaughter, or murder. You cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Roy wouldn't have done it anyway, and goading via text is not actual coercion. You can't prove that Carter actually caused anything.
I don't buy that any text messages or IMs can conclusively cause anything. They were obviously a factor, but I think it's a little ridiculous to lump sending texts in with accidentally killing somebody because you were recklessly firing a gun in public (or any other typical example of manslaughter).
There should be some consequences, but I don't think you can make a real case for murder or manslaughter when Carter didn't physically cause Roy's death. Roy caused Roy's death. I hate to defend an obviously shitty person, but it also doesn't speak very highly of Roy to claim in a court of law "But for these text messages, Roy would still be alive".
She persuaded him to do it even after he changed his mind.
It's like deleting system32 on your computer. Sure, the computer technically carried out the process, but you're the one who pushed the buttons.
Jesus christ, I knew FP had some shitheads, but refusing to believe irrefutable evidence that she coaxed him into killing himself?
Yah bud it's really never okay to encourage anyone to commit suicide.
I think if someone's going to spend the rest of their life in prison while being vehemently hated by everyone in and out of jail, I think there is some credence to understanding their choice to commit suicide. I don't think I was too clear in my first post, but I think there's a certain extent of misery and inability for change that can justify these things. But that's an absolute extreme.
It's also a difference between helping accept suicide and abusively manipulating someone into committing suicide.
