we needed a good laugh, I suppose? v:v:v
If Julia Gillard is anything to go by, don't let a female run the country. They know what to do with some major issues, but the rest of their time is spent making poor decisions and lowering their approval rating.

Yeah, that's not because they're women, that's because they're bad lawmakers/executives.

Being a subject of the Bachmann regime should be ample grounds for any American to request foreign asylum.

How I long for the olde Facepunch where this post would have been a boot out the door
Education rests mostly at the state level in the US. It wouldn't hardly make a difference at all. I'm not sure if all of the people outside the US understood it right. She isn't saying that we need to drop our entire education system but rather eliminate a constitutionally unnecessary department. There isn't a problem with what she is saying. I don't think she has the best idea about education though.
I think education in the US should be only regulated at the national level and not at the state level. This would ensure equal standards across the country and prevent radical ideas from being taught.
tl;dr She's not incorrect constitutionally, but her idea isn't good.
I have actually ceased to be surprised by the antics of American politics. My expectations for the future of the country, and by generous extension, the world are dropping with every press conference. Even if Obama gets re-elected, it is still just delaying the inevitable, republican clusterfuck of a government.
Don't worry man, the system keeps the idiots in check.
What she's saying is right.
The federal government should have no authority over education.
It should be completely state run.
I'm not wrong. The Federal Government's powers are only what the constitution explicitly sates or implies.
There are a lot of unconstitutional bureaus in America, like the TSA.
This...is so fucking true. I mean WTF, women are supposed to be the least likely people to be Republicans, yet most young Republicans are white, dumb (but hot) girls. Allot of them are feminists too, despite being Bible-thumpers.
At this point "feminism" is used to describe so many different incompatible ideologies that the word is practically meaningless from a non-historical perspective.
Truthfully there actually are a lot more female democrats than female republicans, but they tend to be older and are pretty normal people as far as politicians go, despite being more ethnically diverse than republican women. That, coupled with the fact that the Democrats aren't in a position to find a new Obama, makes them unattractive to the Obama-seekers.

I can't tell you how bad state education guidelines would go. You'd have some states literally teaching stuff that just doesn't match with generally agreed upon science, history, and whatever else would conflict with this.

Look, I understand quite well that my post was 99% negligent, but I don't think it'd warrant such an extreme reaction. I was on FP back in those days too and like honestly what I said wasn't that bad mate.

what really? My understanding is that mods gave misogyny a pass because garry doesn't care.

Gender has nothing to do with them being morons. Rick Perry and Ron Paul are also completely insane.

Exactly. IMO the federal government should not allow states like Texas to deliberately force ignorance on their students with religion-favoring education. It's completely immoral to allow students to be condemned to a lower-quality education that leaves them at a permanent disadvantage just because they were unlucky enough to be born in a state with fundamentalist-run schools.
Or, more likely, schools with 2-day weeks because the state legislature keeps stealing money from them to pay for tax cuts and vouchers for Christian schools.
Allot of them are feminists too,
What are you talking about?
Its like she's asking not to be elected.
How does this kind of people even get this far? Its even amazing!
Ron Paul is the only republican with a brain.

After reading about the other stuff she's blurted out, i'm convinced the world is in good hands if this idiot somehow gets elected...
Bachmann makes Bush look competent.
Bachmann makes Bush look competent.
She makes Palin look competent too.
Whats her argument going to be? That shes living proof that education doesn't work?
dumb as dirt. but you shitheads need to stop thinking one dumb bitch = all of america.
the 2nd post in this thread shouldn't have so many agrees, not all republicans are dumb crazy, though democrats are definitely the way to go in most cases
