This thread was cool until the animal abuse photo popped up.

God damn it stop quoting that fucking picture.
So if we retrace our steps in the way of tech advancement, we could've made a supercomputer that mimics George Bush's brain twenty years ago.
I'm going to find it really goddamn amusing in a few years time when all these 'FUTURE' guys who keep promising us things like biological immortality and true AI begin to realise that the future isn't actually going to look anything like what they want it to. For more information, see peak oil, global warming, water crisis etc. Fact is, civilization as we know it, the only thing able to support these fantastic inventions, is going to come to an end very, VERY soon. Probably within this century. Perhaps even within this decade. Either way, the shit these guys are promising is never going to happen in our lifetimes.
Oh no they'll use this to make terminator cats!
Shows how far off we still are from replicating a human brain.
In other words, not far. They said they only needed two to three times more hardware. If they got that absolutely massive amount, they can get double or triple. All that needs to happen now is to have it be scaled down.
