Good thing I never go outside :v:
Wait, wasn't there just that news story about a scientists developing a super deadly version of the flu? :ohdear:
Swine flu = Bird flu to you?
a week of congestion and coughing? oh that's what i'm experiencing right now time to be overly paranoid and start writing my will
you know a lot of people say this. and they have absolutely zero knowledge about medicine. ATTN idiots: you're supposed to get sick. it's how it works. it's a weak version of the illness that triggers an immune response which kills the flu virus to acquire its information. if you didn't get sick from the flu vaccine then you have a compromised immune system. (or you are so tough that you didn't even notice that you had a fever.)
Isn't there also the possibility that your body just has a good immune response to whatever's in the vaccine so your body clears it up so quickly that you don't have time to develop and serious symptoms. I don't think I've once in my life had a flu vaccine and I've also never had the flu once. Occasionally I'll get a cold for a day or two, but nothing as bad as the flu.
Never had a vaccine in my life other than those required at birth.
Oh boy, here we go! Is this my Christmas present?

Of course, your immune system could be really strong, in which case do not ever get avian flu [editline]25th December 2011[/editline]
Isn't there also the possibility that your body just has a good immune response to whatever's in the vaccine so your body clears it up so quickly that you don't have time to develop any serious symptoms.
Your body should still react with one of two of the same symptoms. I mean it's a flu, so there aren't very many 'serious' symptoms for healthy people. You can also fool your body into causing some of the same symptoms.
So who had sex with a pig now? I have to know!
So who had sex with a pig now? I have to know!
It could also have been contracted by farmers just being in close contact with factory farmed pigs. In terms of zoonotic disease creation, factory farming is probably the biggest risk out there.
Swine flu = Bird flu to you?
Whatevs. Same diff. They all fit withing the club chicken sandwich umbrella of flues. Rate me dumb, why don't you. I hope you get Mayo flu.
It could also have been contracted by farmers just being in close contact with factory farmed pigs. In terms of zoonotic disease creation, factory farming is probably the biggest risk out there.
So a man fucking a pig is probably out of question?
So a man fucking a pig is probably out of question?
It definitely can happen, but it's pretty unlikely. You'd need millions of men fucking millions of pigs. So basically like <insert hatred country of choice>
Already had it once, time for round 2.
Already had it once, time for round 2.
Did you get it by banging a pig?
http://www.sectech-uk.com/services.php?pagetype=28 Shit guys maybe we can get a deal if we buy in bulk??
Last time there was vaccinations we didn't get any The line was over 3 hours long :v: Fuckit, I have Australia to protect me (From an overblown flu)

Normal vaccines are made of dead or inactivated versions of the virus you're being vaccinated against. What the fuck is the point of a vaccine if it has the same effect as the real disease? And you call people idiots and say how they have absolutely zero knowledge about medicine.
I didn't even take the vaccine
Me neither, which was a good idea because apparently it turns out that it can have a few nasty side-effects.

Once again the media trying to cause a mass panic But if it does come back, blerh, had it before directly after having appendicitis, worst 2 weeks ever.
No, dead OR weakened, you're both half correct.
Congrats you've read 2 sentences about it on wiki. Check the types below now.
Congrats you've read 2 sentences about it on wiki. Check the types below now.
Implying you're some sort of vaccine expert who didn't read about it on the internet?
Implying you're some sort of vaccine expert who didn't read about it on the internet?
"Trust me, I'm a doctor".
anyone want some forsythia?
I almost failed out of school because I had it the first time around, and I was out sick for over a month. We only got 9 sick days :v:
Implying you're some sort of vaccine expert who didn't read about it on the internet?
No, I'm implying you didn't read past 2 sentences about it on the wiki. I mean, fuck, facepunch really amazes me. You people always try to make it look like the other person is "implying" really crazy shit instead of actually reading what they said.

What is the point of quoting a post that is right above you?
What is the point of quoting a post that is right above you?
What is the point in complaining about someone quoting a post that is right above him in a thread like this? In other words: I quote all the time

Anyhow roughly 35% of influenza vaccine recipients suffer at least one of the following: fever, myalgias, fatigue, malaise, or headaches. As I said before, however, some of that is due to the placebo effect.
