Misconception, a policeman said that the guy might be on psychosis from bath salts (this is for the miami case) which were probably mpdv and on mpdv binges you stay awake for extreme amounts of time and suffer from psychosis which makes you crazy, that guy already had previous charges for violent crime so it could have just exasperated his feelings for violence anyway. No drug has a side affect of wanting to eat people.
