• Man Arrested After Trying To Bring Gun Into Magic Kingdom At Walt Disney World

This is not the first time this has happened. First time I heard someone getting arrested and the only reason he was arrested was that he didn't have a valid permit. When i worked at Epcot there were a few occasions people brought handguns in the park. They were just asked to leave. One guy even tried to rent a locker for his. Problem is the lockers are on the inside of the park so he was asked to leave and did. I know he came back in after he put it in his car. Regardless of signs if you have a valid permit and nobody sees it you did nothing wrong. Metal detectors at WDW and any Disney park to me ruins the magic and gives people a false sense of security. Very knee jerk reaction by Disney. Dumb ass person for carrying a gun without a permit too.
Pretty sure when I went as a kid about ten years ago there weren't checks.
I think they started doing checks a little after 9/11.
Pretty sure when I went as a kid about ten years ago there weren't checks.
I've been going frequently for the last 10-15 years or so and there's been bag checks for a good long while. Bag checks are pretty standard at every major theme park.
the attitude + hollow points lol
I'm sorry did you say anything at all? What are you talking about?
with only 5 bullets I doubt he was meant to do anyone harm. nevertheless it was stupid
He could've easily done serious harm to at least 5 people. That is 5 more than I would like.
This is kinda sensationalist. It's legal to carry in FL, much like any state, with a CCW permit.
Dude no this is Disney World we are talking about. I remember when I went to Magic Kingdom and on the way in I seen a phone on the ground, and at the end of the day when I was leaving the phone was still there. Because everyone is too happy (or busy dealing with crying kids heh) to worry about a couple hundred dollars on the floor. I also lost my wallet years ago in Hollywood Studios, and when I came back a month or 2 later to find it, the customer service reps had it right there, not even a cent was taken out of it. I just love Disney World, even in the areas they cheap out on they make it up to par with everything else by putting a little working charm into it. [editline]18th December 2015[/editline] Also the whole "use this bracelet as a key, park pass, AND your debit card" thing they have going now feels like a glimpse of the future. [editline]18th December 2015[/editline]
Not entirely accurate. The entire point of a carrying concealed is that nobody knows you have it. By definition bans to this effect have no legal weight. They can ask you to leave for any reason, carrying among, them, but they have no legal means to enforce a ban outside of requesting that you leave. For them to ask you to leave because of carrying, you have to be detected, at which point it's typically no longer concealed carry anyways.
Dude you're going to a family amusement park you can spend a couple hours with out your percious 'murican death-tools.
Over 14's can't wear costumes anymore? Lame as fuck
only place thats allowed really is japan disneyland http://boingboing.net/2015/09/23/i-went-to-tokyo-disneyland-cos.html

There's no real reason at all, it's a theme park, mainly meant for families. Disney has the right to ban guns on their property, especially being that they have a huge percentage of children that occupy their park daily, regardless of what "conceal carrying" does.
Over 14's can't wear costumes anymore? Lame as fuck
Halloween just got shittier
I thought costumes were already banned to prevent others from confusing you for a Disney employee.
I thought costumes were already banned to prevent others from confusing you for a Disney employee.
I think that was mostly like mascot costumes? Like the full suit ones. I can't remember though.
If there is any place in America we need an armed security team its Disney world and our largest Malls. They're the biggest targets and make enough money to payroll a team of armed guards. You don't even have to have them roam publically just have them ready to respond to terrorism and active shooters. A terrorist attack at Disney world would be biblically horrible and I only hope they actually have personnel on payroll to respond. Or at the very least install a police sub station and have actual police officers present all the time. As far as this article I don't want to speculate but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
There's a whole series - I think it's only one season though - about security guards at the Mall of America. I would kill to see a series like that but about Disney World. It'd be really cool.
It's ironically called Mall Cops and those security guards are by far some of the most professional I've seen. Lot of them are ex-cops and they do infact have a police sub station, real officers and a K9 security guard along with anti-terrorism agents. I think they've got their stuff together. Disney either doesn't have any or keeps them secret. I haven't heard much about them. I do know they have a Loss Prevention team but that's more about stealing, shoplifting, fraud and general safety stuff and not actually suitable to respond to an act of terrorism.
with only 5 bullets I doubt he was meant to do anyone harm. nevertheless it was stupid
the child NPCs at theme parks have unusually high HP pools to avoid this sort of thing too, nothing to worry about
Upon speaking to Gerson, investigators say he was claiming to have a concealed weapons permit and was allowed to carry the gun. Officials soon learned that his permit was not up-to-date and had actually expired 10 years ago.
Rip. Enjoy your felony. Hey at least he'll never have to worry about keeping his CCW up to date again, as he'll never be allowed one. Or to own a gun

I expect a lot of people to be mad next Halloween.
removing all toy guns from park store shelves, and banning guest costumes for those over 14.
No fun allowed I see

I've heard about it somewhere. I wouldn't doubt they'd keep them secret so it wouldn't distract from the theme they're going for there.
I can get why you'd want to carry in disney. With all these terror attacks in places like that, I'd feel better carrying a gun too. Not condoning but I can sympathize.
and banning guest costumes for those over 14.
No seriously this is legitimately disappointing :(

Someone like that probably doesn't care enough about gun safety and laws to put the small effort towards getting it renewed or replaced.
