Who the fuck cares
not news, nobody gives a fuck.
The screw, known as the pentalobe, is relatively obscure. And that's the point. Apple apparently wants to use these unusual screws so people who own the iPhones can't open them up. Some might argue that this is like selling someone a car and bolting the hood shut so they can't check the engine.
Not anymore
you live in huston, zip 77009?
you live in huston, zip 77009?
No, it's just the closest city to me
When they start using a proprietary apple shaped screw, that's when you worry
When they start using a proprietary apple shaped screw, that's when you worry
Steve Jobs' face on a screw. do eeeet
When they start using a proprietary apple shaped screw, that's when you worry
Worst part is, I can totally see them pulling shit like that.
Steve Jobs' face on a screw. do eeeet
That would be fucking genious.
I guess Apple clients get what they pay for.
Those screws are used in many HDDs for ages. I already unscrewed loads of these. It's just Apple hate bandwagon.
Steve Jobs' face on a screw. do eeeet
So I could screw him all night long
I guess the apple modders will be screwed for a few weeks :v:
I wonder how much this cost Apple considering they only use pentalobe screws for the very bottom of the Iphone.
Call me when they use these: [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/27/Screws_-_tamper_resistant_slotted.jpg/150px-Screws_-_tamper_resistant_slotted.jpg[/img_thumb] Not before.
this kind of screwdriver is made to remove those screws.
[img_thumb]http://www.naturalhandyman.com/iip/inffastener/i/onewayext.jpg[/img_thumb] this kind of screwdriver is made to remove those screws.
This shows why apple are wasting their time to be honest. If someone wants to remove a screw they will find a way to do it, even if they have to make a custom screwdriver bit to remove it they will do it.
no screw is safe. A simple fix I found is to drill a small hole into the screw, and use a small cone shaped grinding bit and a drill.
They are not trying to make their shit impossible to disassemble. If they wanted to, they would use bolts.
Apple sucks balls and this only helps prove it. Let's make products where the users HAVE TO use OUR approved software, OUR approved hardware, and pay OUR ridiculous prices. Now lets make sure they can never tamper with anything at all, even if they don't care about their warranty.
Ridiculous prices? The iPhone 4 is priced $200 subsidized, just like pretty much every single smartphone out there. Unsubsidized, unlocked, it's $600, just like pretty much every single smartphone out there.
Pretty much all of apples products are overpriced.
like i said, there isn't a single reason to open up an iphone you can't do anything with it
Hell, they should have used screws that have flat heads so no one can use a screwdriver to get them out.
Hell, they should have used screws that have flat heads so no one can use a screwdriver to get them out.
They still need to open them up for repairs
Hell, they should have used screws that have flat heads so no one can use a screwdriver to get them out.
They are called nails.

I have created their new screw!
[img_thumb]http://i53.tinypic.com/dc3g36.png[/img_thumb] I have created their new screw!
That could be unscrewed using normal spanner/wrench? :raise:
pentalobe pentagram brb alerting church groups
Not to mention the whole Adam & Eve + the snake and the forbidden apple tree thing.
They still need to open them up for repairs
Imagine if they could just sell new models instead of having people get them repaired. Mmmm, profit.
Imagine if they could just sell new models instead of having people get them repaired. Mmmm, profit.
I have said this once, and I'd say it again. Don't give Apple any ideas :argh:
