Oh gods the new new tab page on chrome is atrocious
What?
I had no idea they removed the shadow only three years ago.
"Logo changes are stupid, minimalism is stupid, when will you companies learn?!" .... "Google your new flat-colored minimalistic logo is awesome! I love you google, you are the best and only your competitors or companies we don't worship deserve any sort of criticism!" Irony at its finest FP
I liked the old logo better. Not saying this one's bad, but I liked the little shading the old one had. Made it look more lively.
Hmm, the code isn't working. [editline]19th September 2013[/editline] Nevermind, it worked when I copied it directly from the blog post? [editline]19th September 2013[/editline] This is similar to the interface that they tried last year but ultimately decided against, not sure how this one is a huge improvement.
The reason things are becoming flatter and more simple is because everything is moving away from skeuomorphism. Which is a good thing.
Has google always read out your search result information from wikipedia when you use voice search?
In other news, Google had completely overhauled YouTube's layout since it's Thursday again.
This is so stupid. They made the comments go chronologically backwards. [editline]19th September 2013[/editline] Actually it's not even that, it's just backwards SOMEHOW. E; Or maybe I was watching the wrong video because the other ones I just checked were fine...
[t]http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Mozilla-Firefox-23-Is-Now-Available-for-Download-373285-2.png?1375775627[/t] Looks alright to me.
The changes are insanely subtle. Mainly with detail in the Fox's fur and the gloss on the world. Last time it updated, it took me awhile to notice until I saw it was a little "off".
I took the liberty and made Google's new Chrome logo for them. [t]http://puu.sh/4vre2.png[/t] Where's my paycheck

I rarely like matte 2d logos like this, but this one looks sharp.
I like the style but I don't like the font. They should change that too.
I took the liberty and made Google's new Chrome logo for them. [t]http://puu.sh/4vre2.png[/t] Where's my paycheck
ok well I like that better than the current one..
What?
Chrome just starte updating for a lot of people. They changed the new tabs page by plonking a big fat huge google logo and search box on it.

I can't say I'm a fan of it, but at least it still has the distinctive font.
The shading didn't make it look worse than without, you guys are just suckers for modern shit
Minimalism is in
tbh i dig the old one better, i'm sorta getting tired of the minimalist phase (and i actually love minimalism). everything is starting to look like the same logo.
I think the Google logo looks great when its either pure white or pure black
Minimalism is in because people are realizing that it doesn't go "out of style". It means they won't have to change their logo in 10 years. Think about it. Companies with "minimalist" logos from 50 to a hundred years ago still have the same goddamn logo (General Electric, IBM, Coca-Cola, Nike, etc.). Basically, the trend is everyone trying to stop being trendy.
Looks like I'm part of the Chrome rollout, personally I like it. [t]http://i.imgur.com/xlMigfM.png[/t] Nicer the the old New Tab window.
All the flat colours stuff isn't great for somebody who likes gradients.
The shading didn't make it look worse than without, you guys are just suckers for modern shit
Have you seen any thread where a company changes logo? Usually it's the opposite.
Have you seen any thread where a company changes logo? Usually it's the opposite.
It's usually just a giant circlejerk about "BLUH WHARS MY DROPSHADOWS AND BEVELS!" because SH likes to pretend they're experts over certain topics they know absolutely jack shit about. Simpler logos are proven to work better, and companies are just aware of that now after testing the water with the 90s-looking crap. It's really not even an opinion. If you think drop shadows or bevels make a logo better, you're just objectively wrong.
Good to see Google get with the trend of flat design
So many of the word minimal in here...
Android settings (old, 2.3) Android settings (new, 4.1) iOS Settings (old, 1.0 - 6.1.4) iOS Settings (new, iOS 7) Windows Libraries Screen (old, Windows 7) Windows Libraries Screen (new, Windows 8) yep, p. much.
And I wouldn't have it any other way. All those glossy interfaces look like shit in comparsion. It's basic GUI design, you keep it clean. OSX still has a glossy shiny interface, and IMO it looks like shit.
I hope it's better than the recent Youtube player update that changed nothing besides requiring two more clicks to do the same things as before.
Yeah sure that is all it did, just ignore the fact that it seems to perform better and not crash as much. [editline]20th September 2013[/editline]
I think its a bit funny how googles new "modern" flat logo is praised, but every other company that did it was flamed
imo its because they haven't changed the logo (the thing you associate with a brand more than anything else) like many companies seem to be obsessed with doing. All they did was change the style of it. No different to changing a font really. [editline]20th September 2013[/editline] Also, the navigation thing looks a bit like the latest (I think?) version of Android. Not too sure about it. But then again, how many people actually use the black bar for navigating around google? I personally only visit a handful of google services and I have done so so often they appear when I type their name into the address bar as the first option.
