Well, hold on a minute, didn't they make ENOUGH fucking money on the first day sales? I mean I'm not bothered, if kiddos want to spend mummys credit card online, they can, doesn't effect me in the slightest, but I don't understand why.
businesses don't just see how much money they make on the first day then stop. you don't see google packing up bags and leaving because they've got plenty of money already
Knew it would happen, doesnt really bother me in the slightest so long as it doesnt delve into buying guns for cash. Would be nice to see a Star Citizen-esque limitation, where you can only buy say 2.5 mil per month.
I find it concerning just how many of you are convinced that this will be a perfect system when we have no solid idea how it function. It's all well and good saying that some people have jobs but that doesn't mean that the ability to buy power is suddenly a good idea.
it's worked well in lots of other examples given here and rockstar have consistently proven themselves as very good devs so i find it far more concerning that the majority response is mass hysteria and negativity

RDR had microtransaction and dlc but as far as I know it was all cosmetic. It's a bit odd to see the ability to just buy more money in a game that's entirely centered on making said money, sounds like a big threat to game balance.
A-okay Honestly if the presence of the ability to buy stuff in game as opposed to earning it turns you off, you should probably recheck your priorities.
microtransactions of this nature fuck greatly with the in-game values suddenly it doesn't mean shit to have "the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos" when there's people running around with these things on the day of the launch, because they're able to throw their money around like this it's corruption, you're paying the developers to get benefits you should've worked for. Don't tell me this doesn't affect me, the ordinary player, at all.
I personally couldn't careless to be honest. As long as they keep it balanced and far with all players.
microtransactions of this nature fuck greatly with the in-game values suddenly it doesn't mean shit to have "the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos" when there's be people running around with these things on the day of the launch, just because they're wealthy in real life.
But buying things are tied to experience level which you cannot purchase, so who cares if someone can buy more starting pistol bullets and baseball hats than you

Don't tell me this doesn't affect me, the ordinary player, at all.
i'm sorry but that's really really dumb. it's not corruption of any sort at all. you obviously don't realise what video games are in 2013 and how the industry has changed. as i've said like 4 times already in this thread, not everyone is a 16 year old student with 40 hours going spare to sink into gta to get millions of dollars. giving people the option to enjoy the full online experience with their friends with microtransactions is a brilliant move both for business and for ensuring everyone can have a great user experience. get used to it
But buying things are tied to experience level which you cannot purchase, so who cares if someone can buy more starting pistol bullets and baseball hats than you
and wow i didnt know that. that's a great balancing move
i'm really surprised about the backlash for this. is there really so little faith for rockstar? they're gonna do it right
But buying things are tied to experience level which you cannot purchase, so who cares if someone can buy more starting pistol bullets and baseball hats than you
Exactly this, though the continued need for people to note this gives you a good idea of how much a lot of those opposing this have actually read into the matter, instead seeing "microtransactions" and "buy ingame cash" and assuming that Rockstar is making GTAO a Korean F2P MMO where you have to grind for hours to get cash and that any item is available to anyone willing to fork over cash with no level locks, because all F2P and otherwise microtransactions are evil capitalist corporate schemes to get more cash and shaft "real gamers" or some equally convoluted bullshit (which of course isn't the case at all).

Its entirely possible that you won't be able to buy stuff unless you are the right level anyway.

The corruption thing I said was rather far-fetched. I still think they mess up the in game values, though. Being able to instantly get a high-tier item DOES bring its value down by a lot.
But buying things are tied to experience level which you cannot purchase, so who cares if someone can buy more starting pistol bullets and baseball hats than you
if this is true, then I have no issues with the system anymore
microtransactions of this nature fuck greatly with the in-game values suddenly it doesn't mean shit to have "the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos" when there's people running around with these things on the day of the launch, because they're able to throw their money around like this it's corruption, you're paying the developers to get benefits you should've worked for. Fuck no. god people are over reacting like shit.
