Wouldn't it be better to have banded currencies based on economic stability, economic strength and GDP? IE: France and Germany would share the same currency. Whereas Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland would share a different currency to the one France and Germany have.

I think this whole euro deal encompass too many countries. Remember the proposed "Viking" currency for denmark, norway, finland, sweden and iceland? I wonder how clusters of shared currency would work. For example: The above mentioned countries got theirs, representing northern europe. Then there is the central european/germanic currency with germany, switzerland, austria, luxembourg with theirs. British isles, ireland and the benelux representing the north-west. France, spain, italy as west mediterranean, balkan and turkey as east mediterranean. Poland and the baltic with their east european. This is probably a shitty idea. I just wonder how it would work.

We are in the border between EU and Russia. We could be rich if we charged taxes for incoming goods. But noo, our government took it in the ass from EU and we are forced to let everyone through for free. And yes I am from latvia, fp flag is lying.
Less euro more crumpet.
But economic strength isn't always constant
Okay then. Issue one currency around the world. Give the currency a different name in each country based on how well that currency is doing. One week, the British could be using the Pound, next week: Yen.

And if the money symbol is the same, it's the same currency really.
Get rid of physical money. Just give everyone cards.
Good luck with that. You can't give hobo your change with a cc, you can't lend money to your friend with cc, you can't do a lot of shit really. Some things could be fixed with using phones as wallets, but that's still too new. Physical money isn't going away anytime soon.
Oi, the english are tossers.
The UK isn't just made up of the English
But then that would make businesses be discourage to send their products there if your country has tariffs, the products then would be diverted to other EU countries who has 0% tariffs.
Sure, but they would spend more on fuel getting around then. [editline]20th November 2011[/editline] We aren't getting anything from EU anyway. All they did was close our sugar factories and give us the middle finger. People are still poor and living by the soviet bloc standards, not european ones.
wow british people must be exercising a lot if they are going to drop all of those pounds
Yes, meanwhile the US economy is failing too. Yet you all miss the part where he said that most British banks are owned by European banks. So you're tied to the Euro anyway. A yank read more of it then you did.
This post represets the worst reading every OWED not OWNED...!
The euro isn't going to fail, and theres just as much chance of the euro and pound being very similar in value again as anything else. Honestly, this won't happe in the next 2-3 years, thats just a lot of bullshit, i could imagine it happening in the future, but even then. The euro got fucked up when they let just about every country join the eurozone. And once countries started changing currencies, they decided fuck it let's jack up the prices some more and screw everything up in the process. That being said, at least the coins are lighter, pennies are heavy as fuck. Seriously, how do you brits carry that around?

If your country's officials are so retarded (no offence) that they're not able to make plans for new schools, roads and all that shit so they'd get funds then it's not EU's fault.
God forbid us not wanting to join a collapsing form of currency and wanting to keep some of our culture.
hardly collapsing considering the euro has more purchasing power than the pound. and you're uh, you're not gonna lose culture. france and germany haven't lost culture have they... stop reading ukip propaganda.
These people will get shity, interesting read though has some good points about the EU and its currency is illegal under the treaty's of Magna Carta and the the declaration of rights http://magnacartasocietyblog.blogspot.com/
You know why I don't want to join the euro? Fuck all that economic shit, the 1 euro coin has a cock on it. Really. Look at that monster on the right, you just can't take it seriously.

(Disregarding the fact that once their oil is gone, their economy will be on alot shallower grounds anyways.)

Kinda like america and their 1%. Citizens gain nothing from being in EU really.
I don't want to fucking join the Euro. I like our pounds.
We get the EU money, but that money goes straight into politicians' pockets. Kinda like america and their 1%. Citizens gain nothing from being in EU really.
Except for completely free travel and study in every European union country to name just two.
switch to usd
switch to usd
But it's in worse condition than the Euro.
But it's in worse condition than the Euro.
But dollars are actually treasure maps to ancient riches hidden in monuments, so they are really worth more in the long run.
They can also predict terrorist attacks.
