Oh god the United States is selling transport helicopters, missile interceptors, and mine hunting ships, what ever will china do? I'm tired of you, China. I think it is time we imposed massive tariffs on all goods you send to the United States.

The private corporations that run America will NOT allow that to happen. [editline]04:16PM[/editline]
Half of China's economy depends on selling shit to us. They do not want to play hardball with us.
But the US is somehow NOT a part of this equation? [editline]04:18PM[/editline]
The United States could run self sufficient on it's economy for decades. We really don't depend on China as much as the tree-hugging media makes it out to be
Treehugging media? are you kidding me? also, the majority of the US's profit is tied into china.
But the US is somehow NOT a part of this equation?
We are in an economic spiral and we can drag china with us.
They can do another great leap forward off a cliff. Anyhow, the weapons are there to ensure Taiwan keeps it's awkward status of "nation, not a nation." That way, we can have a reason to defend Taiwan if the time comes, and China can still keep claiming that Taiwan is their property.
Why do you feel the need to defend Taiwan? [editline]04:22PM[/editline]
We are in an economic spiral and we can drag china with us.
China's employment and investments would drop dramatically, yes, but they aren't as deeply tied into the US as you say
that's why they're 'loaning' massive bux for our private industry that they know they will never see again
They have already told us to get our finances in order and the loaning is going to come to an end here very quickly.
If it gets bad enough the chinese might just seize all foreign assets in the company and put them under the ownership of the state, then emulating a form of central planning to manage themselves.
Why do you feel the need to defend Taiwan?
Two words. Monroe Doctrine.
Two words. Monroe Doctrine.
Taiwan isn't in any americas. Truman doctrine is more applicable but china isn't really communist, unofficially anyway.
Two words. Monroe Doctrine.
do you even know what the monroe doctrine is fyi it has nothing to do with communism or asia.
that's why they're 'loaning' massive bux for our private industry that they know they will never see again
Because they have massive interests there. If the US goes under, Chinese business, who are supported by the government, will lose a ton of money and employment. They won't fucking go up in flames, they'll just go through a slow period. Just look at England during the recession. [editline]12:42AM[/editline]
Two words. Monroe Doctrine.
two words. uh no
Not quite, China relies on us for the majority of their raw resources for industrial development. Us going under would bring their industrial revolution to a grinding halt, with horrific results.
Not quite, China relies on us for the majority of their raw resources for industrial development. China has plenty of raw resources.
Looking forward to the impending war. You guys can just fight over the pacific and leave us in europe in peace, right?
US is getting a taste of its own medicine.
Yeah, except we're not.
Yeah, except we're not.
uh, dude, the US has signed on to China, of course their going to get affected for their stupidity.
To think that China will continue to have to keep us afloat forever is just not thinking at all. What is the point to continued loaning of their money to us so that we can buy their stuff. I do see the benefit for the short term but that cannot continue for any length of time.
Ha ha as though we're going to pay that back. I'd like to see them do something about it. I'd like to see the UN's response to a war over a loan.
The UN is all words
America doesn't kill its own citizens with tanks and death buses and then pretend it never happened.
Neither does China...? Lankist, you've been watching too much news. Go lie down.
Europe = :allears:
:20bux: that when america and china starts launching nuclear missiles at each other, some dumbfuck government will jump in going "Let's all be friends " and then world war 3.
Neither does China...? Lankist, you've been watching too much news. Go lie down.
Tienanmen square never happened
Ugh, what most of people don't realize is that China has a shitload (about three trillion US dollars) in reserve. If the US doesn't comply to China's sanctions, the Chinese government can put these trillion dollars on the market. Guess what happens. Three trillion dollars start going around people's hands. The dollar becomes extremely cheap in a matter of years, maybe months. US' economy collapses. Just putting it out there. Flame me all you want. It won't change anything.
Awesome, then finally I can get some cheap steam games. Go China!
Hehe, good point. [editline]05:41PM[/editline]
act of war violates any number of international economic and trade laws/agreements
Act of war? What happens when you run out of fuel? When you run out of troops? When you don't have the money (or in this case you'll have a shit-fucking-load of money, but without value) to replenish your supplies? And even if you win, what then?
BOMB CHINA. FREE TIBET. Either way, I win.
You haven't ever heard of Mutually Assured Destruction have you?
Which is exactly why the US would have to repay their debt eventually. If they don't and China does release their reserve, then it would be destruction for the USA as well. The government wants to prevent the whole thing from happening, because they don't want to "ruin" America. I hope. If they don't... And a full scale nuclear war does occur... You know.
MAD works both ways buddy. If China pulls any shit we are completely capable of pulling them down with us. [editline]11:33AM[/editline] Jesus it's as though none of you were alive in the 80's. Oh right none of you were
What I mean to say is that the US government doesn't want the US to be "destroyed". Even if they bring China down, it's still death for US as well. I'm probably oversimplifying it... I'm not sure if I can explain it properly.
