He probably wants the coalition to keep up the attacks just so he can go "Look! See! I'm the victim! I called a ceasefire but they kept attacking! They're bad, help me!"
Not that hard to figure out.
This is exactly what I am worried is his plans.
Gaddafi might be a raving lunatic, but that doesn't mean he's not got clever advisors, and he could obviously be both clever AND mad.
Don't worry, if Gaddafi makes us look bad we can just say we're trying to get Abdelbaset al-Megrahi
so many winner ratings for op
from heroic cod kids i suppose?

No, probably from people glad something is being done to stop massive human rights violations and a tyrannical dictator hell-bent on killing anything that pisses the wrong way.

Where the hell do these people even get these arguments? Its like, its somehow supposed to be the trump card in an argument.
-"Well, I think we may need to continue reforming our educational system."
="I bet you're a 'lol cod r0cks!' 12 year old!"
-"That wasn't an argument."
="It doesn't have to be!"

Or we could just say were going in to get a crazy dictator that's killing his own people. I mean France of all people dropped the first bomb, I'm pretty sure the (sane) international community won't give a shit if we continue attacking.
Haha, Another Cease Fire... Oh Ghadaffi. One of those Tomahawks must have had a Reality Warhead
You just said the worlds most advanced spy plane is not subtle?
You fucking idiot...
Considering it is very visible to radar and the only thing preventing it from getting shot down is it's ludicrous speed and altitude, yes it's not very subtle.
Does he seriously think that saying "lol cease fire" every few days is going to give him a break from the bombing?

It's still the most advanced spy plane.
It's still the most advanced spy plane.
Indeed, but it's not subtle, which was the entire point of that counter to you berating jaykray.
For subtlety, nothing beats a spy satellite or something with stealth (I don't think there's any reconnaissance aircraft utilising stealth at the moment)
I really wish we could see those slides on Al Jazeera.

You're not saying that it should be subtle, right?
You're not saying that it should be subtle, right?
Nah. It's speed allows it to evade long-range SAMs and interceptors in order to get intel, so for it's designed purpose it works very well. It's just that it's been supplanted by satellites for intel gathering deep in unfriendly territory. A version of it with stealth wouldn't hurt, but considering the stresses the airframe is subjected to i'm not sure how much stealth would work on it (the friction would make it glow in IR, for example)

Well ok, but that weird design made it far more stealthier than without that weird flattening around the edges.
, forgot the SR-71 did indeed incorporate stealth characteristics.
It's stealth isn't particularly effective, I must say though.

Uhh I would come to think that the designers would first consider having it become invisible to radar and having it's speed as a form of defense.
What's the point of having a super-fast spy plane when they can still see it?

What's the point of having a super-fast spy plane when they can still see it?
It was made before the research that underpins the stealth tech seen in the F-117 and F-22 came about. The defence of altitude with the U-2 became obsolete, so the next logical step was speed. The heat it generates going Mach 3+ lights it up like a Christmas tree, but that's of little comfort to those shooting missiles at it and watching the plane simply outrun them.
That's why I was wondering whether modern stealth tech would make any difference if it's just going to become a Sun with wings when it speeds up.
The radar signature from the SR-71, if I recall correctly, is almost 50 times bigger than even standard fighter jets we use currently.
Huge explosion, plume of smoke rising in the direction Gaddafi's compound in Tripoli, Al Jazeera can report.
Plus the heat generated at high speeds is huge, and can be detected by radar as well, as well as the long exhaust trails.
So basically its just the speed that defends it.
This appeared in radio amateur mailing list which watches these "spooky number stations", among with other things.

English part transcript:

"Libyan ship or vessel: Remain anchored; do not leave port.
The Khaddafi regime forces are violating a United Nations resolution
ordering the end of hostilities in your country.
If you attempt to leave port, you will be attacked and destroyed
immediately.
For your own safety do not leave port."
Got something
They must have hit a target, but a bit ago they reported hearing a plane, so I hope the government didn't shoot it down :(
Shut up about it, we've just had a load of shit announced

Any more details? (I don't have AJE open yet, BBC are just talking to someone atm)
AJE have a program on about life in Mubarak's Egypt, I'm watching it
AJE have a program on about life in Mubarak's Egypt, I'm watching it
Yeah, same with me. Very interesting.
AJE have a program on about life in Mubarak's Egypt, I'm watching it
The advert made it look interesting, I might watch it later I have noticed AJE put their programs on their site after its shown.
As for the possible bombing in Tripoli. BBC seem to think its AA being hit that is around Gaddafi's compound. Lots of AA fire apparently.
That documentary's intended sad ending is now a happy one :)
THIS IS A BAD IDEA.
We should just stay the fuck away from Lybia.
