Wait, what? Who's not going after Gaddafi? How the fuck do you liberate the people from someone who will never give up his power without killing him? Politics can be so fucking backwards sometimes, I swear
They can't (explicitly) go after him under the UN resolution as it does not allow or call for regime change. There is also the risk that if Gaddafi is taken out by the US/UK/France/Canada/etc that the entire legitimacy of the revolution could go out the window.
It seems that the West want the Libyan people to remove him from power.
Although A lot of countries have called for him to go, and the British PM seems to have explicitly called for regime change.
Gaddafi's in a bunker somewhere, he's not stupid enough to sit in his palace and wait for an air strike.
And yeah, Dave has called for a regime change, or maybe it was Hague... one of the two.
I also heard some "expert" (a former general or something, cant remember where they were from) suggest that it would be impossible to properly enforce the resolution without regime change.
They are (at the moment) keeping up the line of "we are not going after Gaddafi" so they are not bombing him directly.
Also the Libyan government seem to be using the media as human shields, they keep getting them to go to his compound and wait for hours and hours for press conferences that don't come.
Besides they (apparently) don't know where Qaddafi is.
BREAKING: It has been reported by Al Manara that Muammar Gaddafi's son, Khamis Al Gaddafi, is dead.

02:13 Almanara Media is confirming from trusted sources that Khamis Al Gaddafi has passed away on Sunday due to severe burn injuries he sustained a few days ago. The burns were caused when a fighter jet pilot performed a martyr mission and crashed his fighter jet into Gaddafi’s compound Baab Al Aziziyah. IMPORTANT: We are only citing Almanara Media for this news. We have not confirmed it via any other source.

Part of me finds it hard to honestly believe that they have no idea where he is at all.

Generally you are supposed to drop the ordinance, not crash into a building with it.

Say what you want...killing Gafadi's brother by crashing a plane into his compound is both brave, and fucking badass.

And wholly unnecessary. The conflict still continues. He is now dead and the revolutionaries are short one more aircraft. Patience is likely a much better attribute now. The revolutionaries can win a war of attrition. Particularly when the war of attrition is heavily accelerated by NATO aircraft raping everything that looks like government hostility.

Still, there's immense psychological value in killing the brother of your primary enemy.
A Rebel pilot crashes his craft into a logistics building inside the Dictator's compound?

screw the Star Wars references.
Interesting, a member of my country's centre party used to sell guns to Gadaffi. No wonder everybody hates Estonia's government.
His name is Lauri Vitsut, he used to work in Eastern Shipping Group where he also sold guns in Mediterranian Sea.
Reading local article's commentary, it seems our centre party is a mafia party. Can't wait for rats to spill more.

Something that looks totally wrong to us Westerners may not be to the Libyans. We in the West believe that each and every individual is of inestimable value which extends into our conduct of military operations, but should we judge how other cultures fight wars by our "superior" standards alone?
Looks like Gaddafi hasn't learned the important lessons of avoiding targeting by precision weapons. Another feckless adversary indeed.
Oh boy, today out I found out our "beloved great country" sold hundreds of FN-2000's to them.
Why did we do that? Because we are evil and corrupted to the bone, and now we are trying to wash it clean by sending a few crummy ass F-16's that are already falling apart due to malfunctions and state of disrepair.
Gotta love a country where it is generally accepted that our entire not-governement system is corrupt, fat and rich as fuck.

Don't take it too much to heart - guess who else's weapons he's using? British, French, Russian and American.
Are the Canadian fighters in the air yet, or still prepping? Sorry, didn't read all 16 pages.

What happens when you mix politics and capitalism?
Belgium?
Yup, the land of hypocricy. We sell them the guns and now we have to support a NATO no-fly zone in it.

Still prepping, I believe.

welcome to the era of capitalism and manipulated media

"Hey, these gun sales help the economy! We are very strict about who we sell to!"
Hey, how about banning gun sales to dictatorships completely? Oh right, yes, sorry, we have 'tight regulations', meaning we stop selling them to people AFTER they've used them to slaughter thousands.
