Not surprised... we grounded our entire F-15 fleet not too long ago due to a mechanical problem

He said one crew member had been recovered safely. An operation is under way to recovered another. It is not clear where the plane went down. The development follows a third night of allied air strikes against Col Gaddafi's forces. Explosions and anti-aircraft fire were heard near Col Gaddafi's compound in the capital, Tripoli. Fighting between the forces loyal to the Libyan leader and the rebels has also continued, despite the declaration of a ceasefire by the government.
I think we should just mind our own damn business. It's all well and good to set out to remove a brutal dictator- but the problem is that once you intervene, you own that problem. You'd think the world would have learned from the Iraq war, after so many years.
That's true about Iraq, but this is a multinational, UN-backed effort with a lot of popular support in Libya. This is going to end with Gadaffi out of power and free elections, just like Egypt.
Sampipcasper is sick. Those F-15's are tanks in the sky, but to bad they have so many problems. Also, doesn't recover suggest they died?
Sampipcasper is sick. Those F-15's are tanks in the sky, but to bad they have so many problems. Also, doesn't recover suggest they died?
Its time for the F-16Cs :v:
Sampipcasper is sick. Those F-15's are tanks in the sky, but to bad they have so many problems. Also, doesn't recover suggest they died?
They are fine, apparently the rebels are looking after them.
I heard on CNN that both are now back in US hands
Has anyone seen the new Daily show episode....I don't like disagreeing with Stewart :saddowns:
Has anyone seen the new Daily show episode....I don't like disagreeing with Stewart :saddowns:
What did he say
What did he say
He pretty much equated it to War, and then had Asif(Probably spelling that wrong) bascially make fun of how the government is trying to use technical terms instead of things like air strikes and bombing runs (Which it isn't). Each episode gets posted on their main site by the way :v:
I get their point, that don't want us being dragged into another conflict and that we obviously pick and choose who to help based on political circumstance. However they also fail to explain the whole "gaddafi slaughtering hundreds of people and executing soldiers who fail to comply" thing. But then it is a comedy show, and that's not very funny.

As a maintainer of the F15E I can say two things. one, this stuff isn't common so whoever said they have a lot of problems is wrong. Also it doesn't need to be replaced by the F16c this jet is more then beyond perfect for this mission. Also, I'm really glad I wasn't one working on this jet. If it comes down to someone not following instructions for maintenance step by step they are royally fucked and will, be held accountable.
Spain looks to be sending some stuff. 1420: Spain has voted overwhelmingly in favour of taking part in the coalition to enforce the no-fly zone over Libya. Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero's request for formal approval of the move was adopted by 336 votes to 3, with one abstention. Spanish planes have already been patrolling Libyan airspace. Madrid has also sent a frigate and a submarine to join coalition forces.

Didn't a wing break off or something, and is that at all related to this incident?
The telegraph have a short article about this. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8397953/US-jet-crashes-in-Libya-airman-would-not-have-known-if-he-approached-friend-or-foe.html BBC were saying earlier that it came down near an airfield. Perhaps they were trying to land?
Hahaha so true.
Copy pasted from news story about crashed F-15 One pilot walks up to a group of people It turned out they were locals who opposed the Libyan leader, the paper said. "I hugged him and said, 'Don't be scared, we are your friends,'" witness Younis Amruni told the Telegra :crying: manly tears
Rumor has it that one of Gaddafi's sons was killed by a Libyan pilot who kamikaze'd himself.
Hahaha so true.
Really, people need to get clued up on the fact that Africa is not in the Middle East.
Just read that an American chopper killed 6 civilians while looking for the pilot.
Just read that an American chopper killed 6 civilians while looking for the pilot.
Where'd you read that?
Just read that an American chopper killed 6 civilians while looking for the pilot.
Okay America no more choppers for you
Is there anyone else reporting that? Relevant to that, in the other article it says
A rescue helicopter swooped low to collect the second crew member - and strafed the ground to keep the locals at bay. Bullets tore through Mr Amruni's driveway and gate.
Was that truly needed.
Hahaha so true.
I want to hit him in the face.
