If someone got into control of all the oil in the middle-east he could fucking extort USA to cinders.
It is vital for USA to stay in an influential position on the distribution of that oil or atleast retake it from anyone claiming it.
Nothing on this planet happens unless the U.S wants it to happen. In the rare occasion where that isn't true, people are assassinated, information is destroyed, etc. and you'll never see it in the media.
If I were to have all the oil in my possession and no one interfered, I could charge you up the ass for it if I liked. You could be paying imaginary prices, because it's not really worth what I'm selling it for.
Giving a lot of power to a person or small group of people is baaaad. They don't stay nice like most of you people here.

What, do people think that oil is a huge part of policy decisions because policymakers are evil creatures who drink oil to gain super-reptile abilities?

People need cars to move around and do shit. How easy is it for someone to go where they want to do what they like, if they're just walking? Are they gonna carry all their shit too?
If you control all the energy resources, then you control pretty much all activity on the planet. It's simple. It's all about having power. You choose who has what amount of energy and for what purposes.

Because from a drone, it all looks the same.

Those are Libyan rebels
Those are Libyan rebels
His point was they look almost exactly the same from a drone's point of view. They would have to keep in close radio contact, providing their exact location at every minute to the coalition to prevent accidental bombing.
Or paint the tank a certain colour or with a certain scheme and have the information relayed around the rebels and to the coalition.
Or paint the tank a certain colour or with a certain scheme and have the information relayed around the rebels and to the coalition.
That would certainly work, but not foolproof e.g. when that American A-10 attacked a British convoy with orange identification panels.
Thankfully it isn't just the americans doing bombing runs this time :v:
Either way it's still better than nothing.
Major gains today it seems
(Also I noticed that I was linking to the direct image last time so its constantly updated which is the opposite of what I wanted, so I am mirroring it this time)
As of today:

Green - Cities controlled by pro-Gaddafi forces
Brown - Cities controlled by anti-Gaddafi forces (supported by coalition forces)
Blue - Ongoing fighting/unclear situation
wow, they're pushing through fast
Apparently the pro-Gaddafi forces are just giving up their weapons and getting the hell out of the way.
(No confirmation of that though apparently, it comes from rebel sources)
feel like trolling?

So it's good that the oil is well controlled by the american government!!
:v:
Edit: Btw US isn't the only large and influential country around. Russia and China have tight control over their thirds of the world.

I forgot Russia and China for a second. But the U.S. still goes about it's shit.
And I don't play Call of Duty games. I don't like playing as a stupid ass soldier, mindless enough to go kill "terrorists".
Being a terrorist is a bad line of work, and no one wants to be a fucking terrorist with large armies around, unless they plan on dying.
Fuck "fighting terror for freedom" too. Freedom isn't free, you have to fight for it.
No one fights anymore so we will slowly become bitches of our own governments.

No one fights who? The government? They have their armies prepared. We're not defeating them through firepower.

GOOD DAMN son, you surly broke out of the system, unlike us mindless sheep.

You can't break out easily. The system determines what food you can get, where you can be, what you can do. It tries affecting you in every way. Non-conformists aren't exactly going to wind up rich.
The system honors its conformists and dead trouble makers. Conformists because it sets an example to people of how you'll be rewarded luxuries for being successful, and dead non-conformists because they totally change what their views, motivations, and goals were, so you don't get the same idea.

Stop saying that here

While I imagine we enjoy the entertainment, I'm not sure if these jokes are pertinent enough to the issue in Libya to belong here.
Sirte has Fallen. I repeat Sirte has fallen!

I agree, None of the western countries received their freedom without fighting for it at some point of their history.
Many of our ancestors died so we could live in world where we can become what we want and express our feelings without being put to prison.
Freedom is never free. And i hate how some people take it from granted.
