I find it difficult to believe anyone can support rebels in a military-backed uprising as if Gadhafi is doing something wrong by defending himself. As insane as he is, this would probably cause stability issues in the region by changing the guard when the guard don't need to be changed.
What do you think the US government would do if protests and uprisings became too powerful? They would bomb civilians and kill whoever. Nobody would enforce a "no-fly zone" (read: act of war) on the US under those conditions. It's about his natural resources and getting it in the hands of someone more agreeable, folks...I don't see anyone rushing to support the uprisings in Bahrain, where there isn't really any oil, or stop the fighting on the Ivory Coast where there's a massive amount of killing (but no oil, of course).

Get your head out of your ass. A dictator has ruled a country for 41 years, and refuses to step down after protests. The protests continue, and the government starts killing innocent protesters. It
leaves them no other choice than to overthrow the government with force. The no-fly zone is there to weaken the loyalist military and prevent the rebels and civillians from getting brutally
massacred by heavy weapons. As long as the international forces doesn't invade the country, then I don't see a problem with it.
