Any explanation of the colours? I am assuming Yellow is rebel control. I am guessing its outdated if so.

There's no way they'll capture Benghazi now, if anything I'm impressed by the number of disputed territories in the west, I thought they were all pretty firmly under government control now.
Yes, but I believe the US fleet in Libya is the only one currently with the capable means of doing so.
Don't know who said it because I have multiple streams open but the US has 11 ships in the med. out of a total of 20 nato ships.
Obama making a radio statement.
Who the fuck makes radio statements these days??

Apparently the US will be contributing their "unique" abilities.

Tomahawks have already been flight. That's what they're talking about. As far as I know were the only ones in the area with the ability to use cruise missiles to take out air assets. We already have multiple fighters from multiple counties, we don't really need US fighters up there. Were taking command though and taking out targets with the tomahawks so the Europeans can bomb them without threat.
Sky have a camera in Tripoli pointing towards the horizon. Nothing appears to be happening.
[editline]19th March 2011[/editline]
Sky news also have the breaking news that UK subs are now launching cruise missiles.
Advantage of subs: you have no idea where they are.

Sky news are saying that Gaddafi is meant to be giving a statement "some time tonight"
Can anyone ID those NATO aircrafts? Looks like I saw a F-111.
Facepunch is jittery for me, ugh.
Jsm, do you have a link to that live camera feed?

I wish we could see the slides he is talking about, apparently they had a slide which showed target locations.
Live pictures now at the Pentagon, a brief statement (I'm typing it live):
We are on the leading edge of a coalition operation to enforce Resolution 1973 in Libya. The goals are to prevent attacks in and around Benghazi, and to degrade the Libyan Regime's opposition to a no-fly zone. 110 tomahawk cruise missiles struck more than 20 defense systems in Libya, both by the US and UK naval fleet. The strikes were carefully coordinated, and the targets were collectively assessed due to risk for pilots. Because it's night there, there will be a time before the full picture is realized. It is stressed that this is a multi-phase operation to enforce Resolution 1973. We are joined by several other allied efforts that are committed to supporting the efforts. In the early days, this operation will be operated by two US senior officials, and a coalition commander will have the transferred power in the coming days. Our mission is to shape the battle space so our partners can take the lead in the situation in Libya.
Haha everyone's joining in!
I mean, even Denmark sent 6 fighters!
Isn't that Denmark's whole air force?

Pretty fucking intense accurate bombardment.
Hm, still uncertain if Gaddafi is going to be like Iraq or Serbia.
