Apparently "US Africa command" is in control at the moment. Apparently its based in Germany.
That's ironic.
Hm, still uncertain if Gaddafi is going to be like Iraq or Serbia.
More likely Iraq.
Is there a stream or anything?
More likely Iraq.
Gulf War Iraq or "war on terror" Iraq?
I can only imagine the air defense crews seeing over a hunderd and ten mother fucking cruise missiles coming their way "fuck"
Why do the media constantly ask questions about future operations? Its obvious they are not going to be answered.
Why do the media constantly ask questions about future operations? Its obvious they are not going to be answered.
They just want to get information by pressuring him.
Gulf War Iraq or "war on terror" Iraq?
Depends on the situation. But in both conflicts, the military of Iraq was devastated in a short amount of time.
They are suggesting the AA system is similar to Iraq's. Older tech but still possibly good.
They are suggesting the AA system is similar to Iraq's. Older tech but still possibly good.
Yeah, but I expect them to get blown up, like in Iraq.
Depends on the situation. But in both conflicts, the military of Iraq was devastated in a short amount of time.
That's true. I assumed you were going to say it's going to drag out for 10 years or something.
I know that this will get a box fort, but I don't care. It just have to be said. It's extremely ridiculous that the vote has gone in favour of our "world police". Why? The mission is not even to secure and protect the civilians, it's for the oil ant it's pretty obvious. Let's see, Bahrain got civilians killed, Yemen as well, why not to go to those countries? Bahrain is small and doesn't have that much oil while Yemen has no oil at all. It's well worth mentioning that in Bahrain people were actualy unarmed, while in Libya the rebels were shot (until the day of Gadaffi's anger after UN dumb vote) Let's think in the other way as well, if it's a mission to protect civilians, what's with the cruise missiles? They will kill more people than Gadaffi's hand did. Isn't there enough wars for USA, France and other big shot countries? Soviets came in Afghanistan and left, USA took the war into their hands, all for glorious resource. Iraq was invaded for what? Take a wild guess. I remember the moment when world police didn't even try to help Lithuanians at the opression of Soviets. All they did was send radio transmissions to Lithuania saying "the help is on it's way". Guess if it ever came and everyone knows the answer why. Once again, if it's for civilian protection, than they should invade North Korea as well, why the heck not? People get shot there everyday just because they did something wrong in the eyes of the leader, come on, lie in front of my eyes now  That's it, rant is over. If you only want to say that "you are dumb dude" by a reply, be my guest. I would fancy more smart answers, but if you really have to do it... Oh, and by the way, I don't believe in conspiracies and this is not one, it's an obvious thing really.
About damn time. I hope there won't be many, if any, casualties.
That's true. I assumed you were going to say it's going to drag out for 10 years or something.
That's Afghanistan. And both worked very differently.
They are suggesting the AA system is similar to Iraq's. Older tech but still possibly good.
That's why we launch missiles at night. Just like shock and awe, just like the gulf war.
Yeah, but I expect them to get blown up, like in Iraq.
It seems to simply be a case of hitting them with large missiles. There could be a problem / stall now, it seems that the US (and possibly others) wont send jets in till they are sure the AA is down and they cant confirm till day light.

Oh, and by the way, I don't believe in conspiracies and this is not one, it's an obvious thing really.
But were not setting foot on the ground... Pretty hard to steal oil when you're in a plane going over 500 mph. BUT we are there to secure our interests. Which, happens to be oil. But not the way you're looking at it. We're going in to assist a rebellion against an oppressive government. The current countries protesting have not erupted into full out rebellion and therefore do not need our assistance.(except for Egypt but that didn't get nearly as bad as this one) But the darker side of it is to oust an unpredictable, historically crazy dictator to secure the oil exporting ports in Libya. After this is done the rebels will hopefully get control and make a better country and be more willing to trade with us. It's a win win win situation for everyone except Gaddafi.
Depends on the situation. But in both conflicts, the military of Iraq was devastated in a short amount of time.
We can say that Iraq was absolutely feckless and could not devise ways to counter American advantages. Will Gaddafi differ? We'll see in the next few hours.
Any chances of shooting down the tomahawks? I say its unlikely. They fly really low. But maybe AA guns can still shoot it down?
Press conference about to happen in Libya, Sky is just showing people talking at the moment. Sky are speculating that Gaddafi isn't going to appear as the US etc would just track him and bomb him as soon as he leaves. Also speculating that this is going to be a statement of bullshit, specificity suggesting that they will say that a hospital has been bombed. The translator is around so it could be amusing again. Lol, the Libyan guy seems pretty stunned. [editline]20th March 2011[/editline]
Press conference about to happen in Libya, Sky is just showing people talking at the moment.
Any chances of shooting down the tomahawks? I say its unlikely. They fly really low. But maybe AA guns can still shoot it down?
You can shoot them down, but I doubt Libya has the resources. It would almost be a freak shot if you managed to get one down with AAA.
Lol, the Libyan guy seems pretty stunned. [editline]20th March 2011[/editline] Ok, thanks
Check my edit, I was thinking about another cruise missile not the tomahawk. Its fast but not that fast.
Any chances of shooting down the tomahawks? I say its unlikely. They fly really low. But maybe AA guns can still shoot it down?
Mid-late 1980s systems like Tor and the 2S6 Tunguska can, but Libya does not have such equipment in their inventory.
Press conference is about to start, they are just waiting for people to get in. He just said "pretty please sit down". The translator is funny.
blaa blaa blaa
It's not just about US attacking. The situation in libya has grown much bigger and gained a lot of attention. And what makes you think they kill more people? They're targeting anti-air defences?
Sky also seem to be speculating that all of the press has been taken to Gaddafi's compound to use them as human shields.
Mid-late 1980s systems like Tor and the 2S6 Tunguska can, but Libya does not have such equipment in their inventory.
Tunguskas are fucking insane.
I'm scared a little about this, I live in Italy soo...
