Love it.
It's nice they take the time to make everything have a personality.
It's nice they take the time to make everything have a personality.
Only valve can make robots that don't speak have personalities that are obvious to notice.
Only valve can make robots that don't speak have personalities that are obvious to notice.
Wall-E disagrees.
Who exactly are these "people on facepunch" who "have a huge bitching spree" about this? I've never seen it mentioned here ever. A few people in one thread does not equal everybody on Facepunch. Get your head out of your ass.
Possibly implying that said thread is up said offenders ass...
I'm not exactly fond of the music.
Don't even bother posting. Everybody is fanboyish on Portal. Just like on steam. And now I'll get boxes, for saying my own opinion.
Wall-E disagrees.
I often think of Pixar as the Valve of Hollywood.
Blue and orange eh? [Img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/eTDM4.jpg[/img_thumb]
Some of them are more like Yellow-Blue or Warm/Cold color contrast, but the point is the same: complementary color contrasts are very used v:v:v
Wall-E disagrees.
Wall-E speaks. [editline]12th December 2010[/editline] Oh wait now I understand, ok I'll take that as an exception.
I'd rather play as the blue one.
People on facepunch have a huge bitching spree against the blue orange combination, because its so "worn out". But of course since this is a valve game they totally love it. Hypocrits.
What the hell are you talking about?
Oh no Orange and Blue being used, it must come under the same thing as the movie posters. Well no. No one is complainging because it is required in GAMEPLAY for them to be contrasting.
I loved how the blue one tried to fight the machines. Reminded me of a child that is intelligent, difficult and knows it and how the orange one was slightly less clever but that somehow allows him to enjoy things more. Even such simple things as mute robots can be awesome characters thanks to Vale.
but there's nothing wrong with it except the fact that it looks good
Didn't say it's wrong, just pointing out the facts
blue and orange? and nobody bitching about that? Oh its valve, of course, they can do whatever they want.
Or maybe the entire forum have discussed this already and we've kind of gone past the whole thing that blue and orange complete each other as colors and infact gives great contrast. Stop being a jerk.

But of course since this is a valve game they totally love it. Hypocrits.
Uh, they bitch about that for movies, yes. How they use it all the time on covers and in the post-processing lightning in the movies. There has been some discussion in some games, but that's when the whole landscape is a blue vs orange contrast. There is a huge different in making the whole game and atmosphere blue and orange and making two robot elements in an otherwise gritty and dark world blue and orange. As well as the portals themselves. There is a difference in having the whole screen in two colours and having two colours represented on some objects in a scene.
I hate it when people just go "These trailers show nothing about the game show us some gameplay!" So, learning more about the bot's personality is nothing? Just because there's no gameplay doesn't mean a trailer can't expand on the story.
is it me, or does Portal 2 look like the Perfect Dating Game, one Co-oP Bot sounds like a man and the other an woman, so im wondering.
Valve is the PIXAR of gaming.
is it me, or does Portal 2 look like the Perfect Dating Game, one Co-oP Bot sounds like a man and the other an woman, so im wondering.
What the hell are you going on about?

They're not special or unique (different in looks, but that's it).
Eh... Thanks to Valve? They're just generic robot personalities. They're not special or unique (different in looks, but that's it).
What? Most robots have no personality at all. How can you say they don't have unique personalities?
What? Most robots have no personality at all. How can you say they don't have unique personalities?
Most robots presented in movies or video sequences has personality. What rock have you been living under?
This is probably what VALVe will do after they finish the "Meet The -"'s
Most robots presented in movies or video sequences has personality. What rock have you been living under?
Whether or not their personalities are unique, I have to admit that VALVe is amazing at applying a personality to an object and telling a story. They gave a goddamn square a personality in the first Portal game.
hey what the fuck april since when i thought it was february thats insane
I like how valve have kept the single player for the most part secret, id rather these pre rendered trailers and not spoil any awesome gameplay secrets valve have in store for us, the current gameplay trailers are more than enough to see whats around the corner.
Awesome.
You're right I am seeing blue/orange, for instance, froch's avatar: [editline]12th December 2010[/editline] I mean proch [editline]12th December 2010[/editline]
is it me, or does Portal 2 look like the Perfect Dating Game, one Co-oP Bot sounds like a man and the other an woman, so im wondering.
Like TF2, ya' know, because the Pyro's a chick
Don't even bother posting. Everybody is fanboyish on Portal. Just like on steam. And now I'll get boxes, for saying my own opinion.
"Everybody is fanboyish on Portal" is not an opinion; you're stating it as a fact. And is there a problem with liking this game? We're "fanboys" for not agreeing with a couple people that the use of orange/blue colors is bad or that a music track in a trailer isn't good? Oh no, the characters are a certain color that I don't like SO THIS GAME MUST BE BAD AS A WHOLE AND YOU ARE ALL SHEEP FOR LIKING IT. I liked Portal 1, so I have high expectations and anticipation for Portal 2. It's got nothing to do with "Valve fanboyism", and even in that regard what's wrong with expecting quality products from Valve? They do make good games and I enjoy them very much. It just sounds to me like you're bitching at people for liking something popular, and in that case I'm going to go ahead and label you a hipster. AND, to finish, I'm also going to point out the obvious that Facepunch is the official forum for Garry's Mod, a mod based on Valve games, so naturally the majority of its user base are players of Valve games. What you're doing is the equivalent of going onto an anime forum and saying anime sucks. Obviously nobody's going to agree; they're there to talk about anime in the first place.
