4 Students Sent Home For Wearing T-Shirts With American Flags On Them On Cinco De Mayo

Mexicans don't even celebrate Cinco De Mayo as much as America does.
Wow.
WOW.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
Obviously this means that we must destroy all Mexicans in America, in order to save our pure, white race.
amen brother.
We need Lankist's opinion on this.
Patriotism never leads to something good.
What up with all the racism ITT?
Really stupid reason to get sent home for, but it's not like the latino community as a whole got together and made this decision.
they are not latin
I think I popped a blood vessel in my brain.
I wonder what would happen if I wore a hammer and sickle to school?
:fsmug:
What race was the vice principal exactly? If he/she was white, then it was obviously some sort of attempt at seeming like a 'Pro-Latin' person, trying to not be another 'Cracker'. If that's the case, it was a weak and insensitive attempt. IMO
There's gotta be something more to the story.
I'd like to see what school officials say happened.
fucking spicks. I mean they are I have Mexican friends but this is ridiculous there wearing American flag shirts on our holiday in america.
first off, "spic" is a racist term for Puerto Ricans. not Mexicans. if you're going to be racist, at least use the right slur, please.
secondly, that's still a fucking racist thing to say.
IRT thread: Politically Correct is stupid. IIRC, Cinco De Mayo isn't even a real mexican holiday. I'm pretty sure the day of Mexican Independence was a completely different day. lemme go check...
... yep, Cinco De Mayo was just the day that some battle during their war for independence was won. the true day of independence was September 27, 1821 (though Mexico had declared independence over ten years earlier on September 16, 1810 (called "el Grito de Dolores")). the only region in Mexico that celebrates Cinco De Mayo is the area said battle was won. and the US celebrates it because of it's catchy name and because it likes to have an excuse to drink.
Wow this story is absolutely retarded. Can't believe they want the kids to apologize. I don't mean to make a generalization, but from all these stories and my personal experiences going to a high school and living in an area that is predominantly Hispanic. I feel that they are the most easily offended group of people on the planet. Not all are though. There are douches from every race, color, origin.
Why do we give into them so much? This is our country but yet we can't be proud Americans in America.
If people get offended it is part of life, they need to learn to deal with it instead of wining about it to get their way like a 5 year old. It is important to retain your heritage but not trample over everyone else's.
I don't give 2 shits if it is a Mexican holiday, if they are offended they can fuck off.
I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day," Annicia Nunez, a Live Oak High student, said. "We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."
Then I want all shops with Mexican flags to take them down on the 4th of July.
They did this at my school. Since these were kids that would *never* wear American flags anyway, they had both them and students with Mexican flags cover them up in order to prevent fights from breaking out.
Which would probably happen, because the Mexican community at my school is an angry, angry bunch.
Political correctness at its fucking worst.
These kids did nothing wrong what so ever, all they did was wear a t-shirt. It wasn't like it said "Fuck you Cinco De Mayo, America is awesome." This is so stupid it makes my blood boil. So much for Freedom of speech/expression, I'm getting so tired of this political correctness bullshit and all the assholes with no backbone to just say "it isn't a big deal, get over it." Bunch of pussies, all of them.
The follow up story.

Really? Fucking really?
Attn butthurt Mexicans, if you don't like it here leave.
These people give the Mexicans and other Hispanics that come here to work and have a better life a bad name.

While I disagree with the school for forcing the guys to go home, I can see the principal's point of view. He did it for the safety of all the students. What if a Mexican-American had gotten offended and beaten the shit out of them?

as an addendum to this post, let me just say that rather than getting butthurt over this apparent "disrespect" to their culture, the mexi-american students at this school should be ashamed that a stupid gringo like me knows more about their own independence than they do...
Omg. I would literally hit the person who did this to me if it happened to me.
It doesn't fucking matter if it's Cinco de Mayo, this is still America. It's not a holiday to us, those fucking mexicans should learn to deal with it.

First they should not get offended. If one or more does and acts on it they get in trouble. If the kid gets beat up well... shit happens. It's still the Mexicans fault and adds to the negative image of their people.
Also is it just me or is there a problem with this quote.
"We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."
Who gives a flying fuck? If someones wearing a Mexican Flag on there shirt on July 4th, no one says anything. Of course, its a DATS RACIST. The American flag. I summed up all the posts earlier. Rate me clocks. Also were I live its :ese: Damn should have worn my American flag shirt on Feb. 2nd. (American seige of Mexico City)
"All they were doing was displaying their patriotic nature. They're expressing their individuality."
Oxymoron detected.
This wouldn't have happened in Arizona
This wouldn't have happened in Arizona
but if this happened in Australia, they would've just banned Patriotism altogether. :v:
Everything is fucking pulled out.
Your not a Patriot, your a Nazi.
You dont like a kid with another skinn color, your a Racist...
Pisses me off.

dnt insult my mexican friends :(
PC is fucking gay
If it's a public school, they can take this to court. If it's a private school, there's nothing they can do.
