Yeah, this is how I see it too.
I think the story is overblown because the kids' families are loudmouths.
Because wearing a U.S. fucking flag on a god damn day that isn't even fucking celebrated in Mexico apart from ONE STATE, ONE FUCKING MEXICAN STATE, AND THAT'S PUEBLA

And that's trying to provoke a reaction? Yep, you can't wear a American flag simply because it happens to be on a day that's only celebrated in America for most part.
What the fuck has this Country come to where you can't show the flag which flies over every inch of it? (Then again this is the same state where students at a school raised a Mexican flag over a U.S. flag which they turned upside down)
This is what I don't fucking get about Mexican nationals who come here, they say they want to be Americans, yet every other fucking rally they and La Raza holds there's atleast 8 fucking Mexican flags as if this is a fucking Aztlan rally or something even though Hispanic-American Community leaders have told them not to fucking wave the Mexican flag since all it does is add to the perception that they are invading the United States for Mexico, yet at a May Day Anti-Arizona rally in New York you get this bullshit, CNN was interviewing this Person who had a WE ARE AMERICA placard with a guy next to her handing out Mexican flags, what the hell is this, you want to be American, yet you don't want to stop flying the flag of the country you came from, and complain about the American flag, what the fuck is this?
what the fuck has this Country come to where you can't show the flag which flies over every inch of it?
One that listens to its flag code for once. Wearing the flag is basically admitting you don't know shit about the country despite you acting like you're extremely patriotic. In other words it weeds out the idiots, who only masquerade as patriots to fit their own selfish agendas.
Typical San Francisco reaction.

It is Section 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code (4 U.S.C. § 1 et seq). This is a U.S. federal law, but there is no penalty for failure to comply with it and it is not widely enforced — indeed, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that punitive enforcement would conflict with the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.
And?

I wear the flag every day, and I went through hell to earn that right. I left behind my family and my friends for it. I sacrificed my body for it. My mind. I went through a gauntlet of physical and emotional training only distinguishable from torture by context. I sacrificed every personal right and freedom I had for it. I crawled through mud as machine gun fire split the air just a few short feet above my head for it. I choked and vomited on nerve gas for it. I even gave up individuality for it. Less than one percent of the American public makes that decision. It was goddamn hard, and I'm goddamn proud of it.
People who wear the flag don't deserve to call themselves patriots? People who wear the flag don't do shit for their country? Boy, you need to seriously reconsider that goddamn statement.

Not you homes, the flag code says you can wear it as a military patch. You have the right to wear it and call yourself a patriot.

Talking about red-necks who "love america see i have a flag on my shirt and a tear in my eye"

I know it's not enforced. But the people who use a flag as a symbol obviously care about, well, symbolism, and tradition. So maybe they should learn the damn tradition.

It's okay, I just wanted to sound like a super hardcore badass. After basic all anybody does is fuck around until they're needed- we're just as retarded as anybody else.
For example, I've spent the past several weeks trying to train the mouse who lives in the vent behind my desk to come when I whistle. It's not going very well at all.
[editline]04:11PM[/editline]
But I do do it very patriotically. And even though I'm essentially just a night watchmen until I get back in class, I'm quite proud of what I've done. I did have to work my ass off to wear this uniform, and I had to make a lot of sacrifices. It's been worth it though.
I don't like some mexicans.

I have nothing but respect for you sir. :patriot:

Mexicans gave us weed though, Willie.

What fucking tradition? How is some fucking code that's only 68 (87 if you count when it was originally written) years old a Tradition?
What fucking tradition? How is some fucking code that's only 68 (87 if you count when it was originally written) years old a Tradition?
There are those that seek to portray people who love the country they live in as mindless idiots.

"Under God" is much newer but I bet these are the kind of people who love that and will defend it as tradition.
There are those that seek to portray people who love the country they live in as mindless idiots.
The ones who blindly shit patriotism are mindless idiots. I love America. I love what it was founded to stand for. But it's lost it's way. Being critical of the government is the most American thing you can do. Because I love freedom and democracy, I don't blindly follow someone because he has a flag pin and an eagle on his back.
I love America more than those idiots do. Don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise.
I think we all agree with the following: God Bless America!
Oh and also the issue isn't that it's Cinco de Mayo. It's that it's Cinco de Mayo this year, when tensions are at an all time high. The principal probably wanted to ensure nothing would happen in the school. And if it was one guy fine, but four guys together is an obvious protest. Was the principal justified? I honestly don't know what to say. It's an extremely touchy issue. At least he only sent them home. If they were suspended that would be going too far.
It's a fucking opinion, he said he feels from growing up in a Hispanic area (most likely and most likely from all the Media Attention) much the Hispanics in his Area get offended over stupid bullshit, you'll start to get the perception they are over-sensitive to shit nobody should be sensitive to (I.E. The fucking American flag it self) after a while of living there, does that mean you actually think that way? Fuck no it doesn't, it just means it as if it might as well be true from these stories you hear, and immediately afterward he states this
Seriously, if you grew up in a Area where one race of people were predominate and you see them on the nightly news every day going about how so and so how despite it being main stream and being around for hundreds of years is now suddenly offensive as if they represent the majority of them, you feel as if they really do represent the majority, does that mean you do? Fuck no, and that why he made that clear by stating
Key fucking word 'these people' not 'These Mexicans' or 'These Hispanics'(And don't try to cancel this out with the 'Attn: Butthurt Mexicans' line, you know damn well giving the context he was referring to the ones offended since they said if it wasn't a Mexican Holiday they wouldn't be offended(aka butthurt)), but 'These people [who go on TV whining about how their race/heritage/nationality makes so and so offensive every fucking night]' need to just fucking stop since all they are doing it is adding this perception that they represent the majority and that the majority of them are offended and DEMAND that the offenders apology for doing something that nobody should find offensive(it's a fucking national flag in the Nation which it flies).
This is the bullshit that fuels racism, simply stating this does not equal Racism, but you doing so just fucking adds to that perception (IE TH89 only banned SgtSgt since he's black thus over sensitive to any thing involving race), you are just fucking giving the Racist more god damn reasoning to think the way they do (IE Herp derp nobody should be offended by da 'Murrikan flag, but dem H'panics are I tell you what, no real american sould be offended by our god givin' flag, we might as well deport all 'em illegal blownie wetbacks durr)
Ok I'm tired, I need to sleep and I don't feel like revising this anymore to try to avoid somehow getting banned for some bullshit paper-thin reason like Mod Sass or Racism for me saying 'brownie wetback' in my example text or something
[editline]04:13AM[/editline]
And people going on the News Whining and overall Attention Whoring using their Nationality or Race as a platform isn't giving them a bad image?
Edit:
Do Anyone of you fuckers care to give me a rebuttal or even a fucking response at all or are you cunts just going to ignore this post?
Hey, I agree with you. I'd actually like to see th89's rebuttal to this. Pretty interesting.
I found this to be rather outrageous, considering that we reside within the United States for something like this to be considered bad is just wrong. Patriotism to ones country, regardless of what day it is is just rediculous. The school was afraid that the Latin students would turn violent or they were afraid that the parents of said students would complain intolerance to ones holidays, regardless of location. But what they did was disgraceful, and in my opinion, unpatriotic. It is beyond me what the Faculty was thinking when they sent these students home for being patriotic, and I don't even think that they even considered the possibility that they just threw those shirts on in the morning without thinking. Though the situation is over with, it begs the question, at what point does political correctness and decency become an unwritten law to punish those willing to express themselves, regardless of the time and place?
I think we all agree with the following: God Bless America!
Haha, no.
You make yourself look sillier with each post.
Just to clear this up TH89 isn't black. In fact he's white, and has awesome facial hair.
NEWSFLASH! This is the United States of America. Not Mexico.
I really don't see how that old navy shirt is patriotic. It just looks like a normal logo shirt.
They are Mexican Americans, aren't they? What's the problem?
[editline]01:49AM[/editline]
I really don't see how that old navy shirt is patriotic. It just looks like a normal logo shirt.
I agree. Calling it patriotic is fucking patronizing. Show your American Pride by wearing a Indonesian-made shirt!
Nope, no difference. Face it, you are stifling speech when doing that, a pure, hard, fact.
Nope, it would be better not to live in a false reality.
Yeah because we all know FP is a forum that has always allowed free speech.
Hey, I agree with you. I'd actually like to see th89's rebuttal to this. Pretty interesting.
It's a largely poorly-thought-out and incoherent post and I covered most of that ground in the RC, addressing Sgt.Sgt:
Firstly, 'it's from experience' is the excuse people always use for prejudice. It's not a valid one because prejudice, by its very nature, changes people's perceptions. Someone who expects a racial group to behave a certain way will ignore them when they don't, and ignore it when people of their own group behave that way. But when the subjects of their prejudice DO behave in accordance with their expectations, they say 'oh, an x doing y. How typical.' Thus reinforcing their own prejudice.
This is called the confirmation bias:http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias
Secondly, even if the confirmation bias didn't exist, your reasoning would be suspect. You haven't met a majority or even a significant percentage of Mexicans. Your experiences are limited chiefly by geography, but also by things like age group, income, and more. To think that your experiences are in any way a sufficient basis for making sweeping racial generalizations is far from rational and even farther from scientific.
Thirdly, given all these identities held by the people you're talking about--young people, working-class people, first or second generation immigrants, victims of discrimination on a daily basis, you assume that the cause of their alleged brittleness is their genetics? To home in on race, despite scores of other WAY more influential factors as the cause of behavior is ignorant, without basis, and basically what racism is all about.
Lastly, given that (according to you) Mexicans frequently get offended by things you say, and given that you've been making some gross, insulting generalizations about Mexicans, maybe the problem isn't them.
I'm not interested in the grandstanding so if anyone wants to debate it further you're more than welcome to PM me.
