if all else fails we've got the tried and true syrup and pelts.
If you're asking whether or not the popular vote represents the ruling party, not always
I don't think there has ever been a majority government that also had a majority of the popular vote but I may be wrong.
Depending on how you count it (I was counting 50% or more of vote) it's about 14 times. My memory is a little hazy as I did look it up a while ago.
I was curious after the last election (Conservatives have majority government currently with just over 40% popular vote if I remember right) and looked it up. Thought you'd be interested.
So why did Canada exist before 1967 when oil sands production began?
We're becoming a petrostate and the only result will be the death of Canada, not the saving of it. We need to start attracting high tech industry, manufacturing, and research
First statement isn't really fair, he was clearly talking about modern Canada, and sadly he's absolutely right: without oilsands Canada would be tanking hard. McGuinty making Ontario into a "have-not" is largely to blame for this.
Second statement I agree with, but those are very competitive markets and with our shitty infrastructure and high dollar it might take more than we can afford to give. I think if we could put pressure on the telecoms to upgrade our infrastructure and not fuck Canada in the ass all day, we would be more successful. Canada making better economic ties with Europe and Asia would also increase our chances: our overreliance on the American market is a serious issue and scares off investors.

Wow, really? I didn't expect the number to be that high.

McGuinty has had three terms, two of which were majorities, what exactly has he done that was so bad for Ontario? (Not refuting anything, just asking)
And what does Ontario have to do with Canada being a petrostate?
I'm 19 and I voted for him. Hell, the Liberals would bankrupt us and the NDP is way to worker focused.
The liberals with their 5B dollar surplus.
