i dont know how you could have an honest metal discussion and not mention dream theater (aka band ever) it's like none of you have any class
Why would you use that as an example of Dream Theater's work?
the camera pans to show a church on fire, and you standing with your hands on your hips and your head cocked to the side varg gives an exaggerated shrug, you sigh, freeze frame, fade to black
i'd watch this
always been more of an industrial metal/alternative metal kind of guy. to name some better known examples: nine inch nails, marilyn manson, deftones, a perfect circle. that kind of stuff. as far as the article's concerned, depressed people may be drawn to metal, but I doubt that metal makes people depressed. that's like saying that taking asprin gives people headaches. it helps me calm down, personally. immersing myself into the mood of a song helps me clear my head.
I love Iron Maiden for their lyrics. Well, and their songs, obviously. I wouldn't say that's depression invoking.
Form of ventilations or somethings.

Guys. Not to poop the party or anything, but we do actually have a metal thread in the music forum.
Listening to death metal (at least by amon amarth), makes me happy / puts me in a good mood. I don't think it's because of the music that they are depressed. Maybe they just listen to the music because they already are depressed. Dun DUN DUUUUN
when i listen to rammstein i shoot myself esp when pussy comes on

Dun DUN DUUUUN
well yeah that's pretty much the conclusion everyone else came to the article even says 'The researchers caution that they cannot say whether listening to this music leads to anxiety and depression, or whether anxious, depressed adolescents turn to this music for solace and emotional release.'
Look at this guy He just looks like a guy who'd be fun to hang out with.
he looks like he fits with fleet foxes, not a metal band this is under the assumption musicians appearance match their bands.
Oh dear, <very nifty tracks>
i've known about ministry and FLA, but i've been too lazy to look up their music, because i'm a mentally-deficient fish that feeds on complacency in laziness thank you for furnishing these things to me

FLA is good.
heh
let me make a slight edit Genres Black metal, death metal, dark ambient I don't see why people have to be so specific about genres. "Metal" is broad. Just like "Rock" and "Electronic" has many genres within itself too, including metal. in the end metal is metal. It doesn't matter how different is, death metal at its core is just major variation of metal. So yes, he is in a metal band.
if you think those were cheesy then it is best to stay ignorant in a single post I can have a lactose intolerant person clinging to their toilet seat for dear life
everyone fucking get under something he's going to post elvenking
could've been talking about his time with Mayhem
I think most people who know Varg would know him for Burzum.
To continue this theme
Cheese tastes nice though.
could've been talking about his time with Mayhem
he didn't have a beard with Mayhem...
But as an addition, these kind of people aren't created from metal music (usually), these kind of people flock to metal because of those kinds of issues.
This is what I'm hoping people don't get wrong.
I ain't gonna post metal but I'll say some things about this article. First of all, I listen to everything from Eminem to Parkway Drive or The Ghost Inside, I have never become more depressed if I listened to metal infact I have been less depressed when I listen to metal then if I wouldn't do it. Pretty much every friend of mine listens to metal of all sorts and none of them is more depressed due to metal, if you go to a metal show so do you notice that everyone there is very friendly against each other, in pits so do people punch and kick each other in the face but they just hug each other and laugh about it after the show. I really don't get why people get more depressed from metal. Also have some metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T8Q5Ef2Ql4. [editline]21st April 2013[/editline] Ops, I did post metal. Ha [editline]21st April 2013[/editline] My argument was really shitty written. I'll blame it on begin Swede and none native English.
everyone fucking get under something he's going to post elvenking
nope, not nearly cheesy enough, going to post some now hold on to your butts this song is about pirates traveling back in time to fight vikings this song is about evil unicorns it's manowar they do a capella covers of metal songs, enough said
they do a capella covers of metal songs, enough said
Oh hey, Van Canto. It's weird, the lead singer in this one can do an almost perfect James Hetfield voice, and that's something not even James Hetfield can do anymore.
