No people hate those just as much, it's just a sad fact they are rarely reported.
Who says I want taken seriously?
And when there is a crowd of hundreds if they actually collectively attacked them they could have won.
And fuck I can't imagine that the average somalian has a fantastic life expectancy it's not like they were gonna live long anyway.
No one is really interested in getting shot to death with an AK47 in order to save two girls, especially when they can accuse you and your family of being spies.

Then, how can dictatorial tyranny ever stand? Surely the people will all rise in collective revolt?
I don't think it's ever that simple.
It's somalia, you can buy a gun for like 5 pounds, the entire village could get em and suddenly the militia becomes a lot less dangerous.

People like you don't realise it's human nature to be expansionist, self-preserving and ruthless among certain types of people, if you take religion away they'll just do it for fun or use another method to extract what they want. Look at the economy, it's RUN by cutthroats.
Think of it this way:

You kind of answered your own question there.
The situation in africa is too far gone. We've known this for a while now. Aid is taken up by warlords, and not distributed at all. A full military force would have to go in, and that would cause so many more problems than just stepping back and ignoring it for a while would do.

And yet we in the "civilized" world of luxury and excess continue to waste money into African aid. Just so we can pat ourselves on the back thinking we're doing something good when it's all a waste of time and effort.
It's a damn shame really because I've never donated for any aid and I know there are a majority that really do need it. I'd like to know what I do makes a difference, you know?
Makes me rage to listen to that hippie crap of peace, love and equality for all regarding these things as well.
I never donate to charities like Oxfam because of this kinda stuff. I wouldn't mind donating, but I'm not going to try to help a country which isn't helping itself. If the government cant sort things out and crack down on this kinda shit then fuck the whole country as far as I'm concerned. It is a shame that there are a lot of innocent people in real need, and I hope somehow most of them can get away from it. But I'm not going to throw cash at what is essentially a humanitarian nightmare glossed with political corruption and archaic religious subversion.

I wish. Historically, there are too many cases where a minority has ruled a majority in a manner exactly to this, and nothing has happened. Idealistically, this /should/ and would work - but in reality, it doesn't happen, for a multitude of reasons - fear being a big one. With all due respect, I don't think you can honestly say how things should be happening unless you've actually been in the situation. I doubt it's as always as simple as "there's the bad guys come on everyone lets rush them fight for freedom" etc.
FP demands BLOOD
I have African American History as a mandatory class in my school, and we have to do weekly current events, all I ever see are people who are accused of being spies and traitors just for speaking out against their corrupt governments, often killed or arrested just for something they said to themselves that someone overheard and reported.
Sometimes in these cases, there would always be people calling for action to be taken against these people. However, the people out there are facing different concerns. It's like "eye power": Sometimes you just don't want to do something for fear of something happening to you.
In that place, if anyone so much as took a step on their own and tried to stop it, they would be shot almost immediately, and their families targeted. Like one of the girl's cousin. She didn't want to be named for fear of retribution by that group. You can simply see how much fear they lived in.
Equatorial African countries are horrible places, and the people are equally horrible.
"Hundreds of people came out to watch the execution," he said. "It was very bad ... the girls looked shocked and were crying but [no one] would help."
There, I fixed it
There's a reason Somalia is the way it is
