Glad to be wrong about it. There are another two, but I've forgotten their names. Optus and Telstra do make the bulk of the internet in Australia, and most Australians will be affected by the filtering by them.
You mean iiNet and Internode? Government tried saying they approve of it , which was a lie as the spokespeople said that was complete bullshit.
Fuck yeah we can now refer to Med Ex on Fallout as Morphine.
You mean iiNet and Internode?
No, they're avidly against it.
I would just like to play L4D2 uncensored that's all i want
Unfortunately by the looks of it released games won't be re-rated. But knowing Valve, they'll push the uncensored copy through steam, so hopefully we'll get it in the end anyway.
its really poor.

[editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] wait that makes no sense i'm never going to play mortal kombat
it should mean that i can import banned games without the risk of being fined right?
legally no, but you'd almost surely be successful if you contested it. regardless, i've only heard of one instance of customers actually taking an unrated game.
Maybe they realised that not only kids play videogames.
And Mr O'Connor also gave a guarantee he would not allow games that had been banned in Australia to be approved for release under the new R18+ classification, if it is approved.
Um the whole fucking point of this effort for an R rating is so that those games wouldnt be banned. Only an australian politician can take something meant to ease restrictions and somehow turn it into something shit.
Good, I guess. I really haven't ever cared that much about it. Although it's probably because I haven't been interested in any of the games that were refused classification.
Heeeeeellll yeah. myabe the prime minister just decided he like the unedited copy of L4D2 better?
Heeeeeellll yeah. myabe the prime minister just decided he like the unedited copy of L4D2 better?
News flash pal, our Prime Minister is a woman.
So L4D2 will have a update released with gore? If so will it be updated for the 360?
So L4D2 will have a update released with gore?
Unlikely, because EA / Valve will need to resubmit it to the OFLC to be rerated in it's full form. It's a few thousand dollars to do that. I can't imagine them doing it.
If so will it be updated for the 360?
It's also very expensive for them to release an Xbox 360 update - doubt they will.
Now all that needs to happen for this to be perfect is for me to turn 18 :\
Now all that needs to happen for this to be perfect is for me to turn 18 :\
If you stick to steam for PC games you should be fine.
In other news: Australian piracy rates drop unexplainably.
Nah, if prices drop to... let's say a normal price, Australia will see a drop in piracy. No way in hell do I want to keep forking $120 for a new console game. $70-$90 for a PC game I can tolerate.

Because you're getting ripped off, JB HI FI and Game sell console games for $89 each.
Censored L4D2 is the only reason im not playing it. It's alot more fun and appealing when there is gore and bodies dont disapear before they hit the ground. Not to mention you cant tell if an infected is on fire or not.
whereabouts are you paying $120 for a console game? I would go to the city to go to GAME, but $6 for one way tickets these days suck(not sure why QR got rid of hourly and return tickets).

These days, you'd be silly to purchase retail here in AUS. I'm not going to pay $100 when I can buy the exact same product (sometimes better) for 30-40% off.
Under the proposed guidelines games containing high-level violence will be restricted to adults, while games containing extreme violence will continue to be refused classification and banned from sale altogether.
Wait, what. They've missed a massive part of the point of an 18+ rating, and it contracticts the argument that these games were banned because 15 year olds couldn't tell the difference between an in-game zombie and a human being? So now, according to our classification board, legal adults shouldn't be able to play incredibly violent games. Because why? They're allowed to drink alcohol, drive cars, do p'much anything they want within the law including watching gore films but apparently violent video games are worse than that?
Noone cares about those ratings. Only species called:Douchebags and other. OMG EVERY POSTER IN THIS TOPIC IS FROM AUSTRALIA:suicide: Well, maybe just in an coincidence my cousin from Australia has an FP account and posted in here.
N OMG EVERY POSTER IN THIS TOPIC IS FROM AUSTRALIA:suicide:
Perhaps it's because we have a vested interest?
I want to punch that O'Connor guy so much, especially considering he's carrying my name too. Seeing how well this is going I think I'll move down there after I get my herpetology degree.

Other than that, I buy games on Steam when they're at a discount price.
fucking finally, does this mean i can play the uncensored version of L4D2 now
