As China bans the burqa in the city of Xinjiang, six alleged suicide bombers are killed
That's probably a bad example, but I just wanted to illustrate that it's very hard to define what is bannable and what isn't.

I think if Chinese ban it they have reasons to it. I am not arguing to outlaw it, I am not really educated enough on China (let's wait for Deng to say his word). But I can see burkas being the same problem as hijabs worn in public.
On one hand if it's banned solely because Chinese gov wants to oppress muslims then it's bad, but I can see their reasoning. If they don't want Islam to spread in their country that's exactly what they need to do. On another hand if it's what Chinese people want then it's totally okay.
It's only difficult if you're being purposefully obtuse. To compare the wearing of traditionalist clothing to the religious butchering of animals in the street? Come on, dude...
Which Satanists are you talking about? There are plenty of Churches and Temples that don't require any animal sacrifices. Those that do don't sound like recognized religions to me.
According to the news thread:
Xinjiang officials later banned students and civil servants from fasting for Ramadan, and authorities in the Xinjiang city of Karamy barred anyone wearing burqas, niqabs, hijabs or simply "large beards" from taking public buses.
Does this sound like a good measure to you? Hijabs are actually very revealing, and I don't think that all muslim women who wear them are forced to.

Good for whom?
While I think these kinds of laws are horrible, in this country they aren't unexpected. Chinese Christians can't openly practice their faith either; and secret churches, churches that specifically do their best to not bother the general populace or the government are routinely targeted, shut down, and members are arrested.
Maybe if this was France, America, or any other country where religions weren't targeted so harshly I would condemn but at least understand the frustration and reasoning behind the violence. In this country however I think employing violence is especially idiotic since many of the people you're going to end up hurting are going through the exact same oppression you are.
Ya let's kill these people and show them they can't take Allah away from us! Except there's a huge chance the people we're killing are being targeted in an extremely similar fashion by the government and are probably as pissed as we are that their god is being "taken away" from them!
Hopefully idiots like these people will continue to be stopped before they cause any damage, and the Christians can show solidarity with the Muslims in China, and through sheer force of numbers force change from within the government.
Good for whom?
Perhaps I worded this wrong. Does this make any sense? Why should you lose the rights to public transportation for wearing a styling piece of clothing? Also, large beards? Really?
It's illogical, no other way about it.
It said the man was shot and killed after he charged police with an axe and attempted to detonate the device.
I don't understand this
It would have been better if they detained them and gave them some mental health treatment, in China though where you can be killed for possession of cannabis it's unlikely.
Just glad nobody else got hurt in the process, nothing good about a pyrrhic victory

Should have shot them in the legs?
It looks really stupid for an axeman to charge a policeman and than try to detonate the device.
These people are big babies. "I'm gonna kill myself and everyone around me cuz burquas are illegal now!!!!"
Being mad over oppression of religion = being a baby
Ok
It seems you've taken some really poor history classes.
You don't fight an idealogical war like this. Why do you think the middle east is so destabilized, and has been for so long?
This mentality of 'brute force, submit, obey' will never work, and only raises new generations of people who believe they are being oppressed, and resent the rest of worldwide society because of it.

Are you real?
Dude
Brute force DOES work whenever there are no political losses. In fact, it can be said, China will go full Junta Argentina on their asses with the population giving 0 fucks.
I define it by that one causes the traumatic killing of a creature with no logical purpose, and the other is cloth over a face.
What is wrong with you?
It's not about the burqas. The central Chinese government has been eroding away at the cultural heritage and ancestral lands of the Uighur people for decades. What we've reached is a critical point where jihad is the only option left for the natives of Xinjiang.

There is always some political loss though, unless no one ever finds out.
Chinese can't be too mean to muslims because they are fighting for influence in the middle east and word spreads quickly.
I disagree with banning garb with religious significance, but I do agree that any burgeoning extremist factions in the area need to be crushed with an iron fist.

Xinjiang is not the ancestral lands of the Uyghurs, they only moved there after the fall of the Mongolian empire, and then it was already populated by the Han.
At this point i am not sure what responses people are expecting from the chineese government either, when stuff like this happens: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Kunming_attack
They think, they can reduce muslim extremism, by making certain stuff that they associate with it illegal, which everybody knows is a stupid approach. But its not like anyone else has solutions either.
I hope you are right because history has shown that extremists don't often go that easily.
That said it IS the chinese government and on their land too. And the Chinese don't fuck around when it comes to using force.
It's a shame the west does nothing to stem the tide of muslim extremists. If anjem choudary was in China he would have been executed by now but in the UK he lives off state welfare recruiting more and more people to the corrupt salif sect.
