not gonna lie they probably wrote it themselves, why would a sweatshop worker write degrading as "degrading"
People are too disconnected from reality to care. There's a reason slavery has been able to exist historically.
I have a strong feeling this is a load of bullshit a couple people put there for attention, most likely the people in the pictures. One reason being the good hand writing and spelling / grammar that you would definitely not expect from a Chinese sweatshop worker. I'd be more inclined to believe these if there was like ONE Chinese letter, or, rather they were completely written in Chinese. But nope perfect english. If I'm wrong then I'm an asshole but I strongly smell bullshit
What's a Chinese letter?
Really the way to solve the problem is to actually get the workers in those countries proper workers rights. Bump up the price without that and the sellers benefit more than anyone else, if you just dismantle the sweatshops then they'll be moved to another country with shitty workers rights. Honestly I think it would take a grand, international declaration of basic workers rights that the over whelming majority of countries sign and boycott any nation that doesn't do it.
But then you get the problem of enforcing it. Most nations are so corrupt that any form of regulation from their government would be nullified by slipping the resident mayor/police chief/whomever a $20 and having them turn the other cheek. If, say, U.N. officials had to monitor the factories, then we get the problem of cost. Where does the U.N. get the money for them? If they make paying these overseers the responsibility of the company, the company then has the perfect ammunition to raise prices and get even more profit. There is no point in trying. Sadly, even basic human rights is not achievable for everybody everywhere, especially not in a capitalist society. For there to be those with the "haves" (the West) there must be those with the "have nots" (the rest of the world). That is how it has always been and it will always will be.
Working for a big store over here I've handled packages with clothing traced with the tiniest of finger prints, all coming from China or Pakistan.. pretty fucked up to see.
