The thread instantly reminded me of this video, especially the part where they put on suncreen: Also, this video made me feel super happy, to the point of tears, for some reason :v: (insert 'muh feelings' meme here)
Its funny, in countries with Caucasians, people want to get more tanned. In countries with darker asians (or even most asians in general) they want to get whiter with whitening cream. You should see the adverts for whitening creams here. Well, we're not as crazy as India though, because its on huge ass fucking billboards there. To the point where its like racism there:
"I am so grateful that this product allowed me to achieve the admiration of others, all I had to do was change my skin color because people are judgemental assholes. :')"
I like pale people. But, I also like NATURALLY (the sun) tan people.... And Lord knows I love tan lines, mmm. But, that percentage for skin cancer is monumental and I feel this issue should be addressed.
The Sun = a tanning device. No kids allowed to be outside.
Since you somehow managed to miss the very first reply to the OP
Indoor ultraviolet (UV) tanners are 74 percent more likely to develop melanoma than those who have never tanned indoors.
Yeah no that's a shit comparison you're trying to make there.

Pure UV exposure compared to our ozone-filtered UV dosages from outside, and even staying outside for too long can increase your risk for cancer.

I know the sun is not "A tanning device". I was being facetious for the sake of comedy but it sadly fell on deaf ears.
but it sadly fell on deaf ears.
Sorry I can't hear your post through the monitor
I remember my first trip to a tanning salon. My mother made me get a tan before my first prom. We went with the lowest duration on the lowest setting. I was still burnt and my girlfriend doesn't give a shit about tans. I also remember one of my white friends getting so tanned that she literally looked like a piece of cooked meat. why
It feels good to have never had a problem with tanning [sp]I just get sunburnt right away, skipping that unneeded middle stage[/sp]
It's illegal in Norway, thought that was the norm. I hope this passes, for the sake of Americas future.
Iirc, it's only illegal for people under 16. The law was also passed only a few years ago.
I also remember one of my white friends getting so tanned that she literally looked like a piece of cooked meat. why
Well they say "the quickest way to a man's heart is his stomach." What better way to do that than to look like food?
I knew a girl in back in high school who was addicted to tanning. She was a normal caucasian female, but her skin was fucking BLACK. Like... burnt toast. She said she would go tanning for an hour every single day, and then I think it started getting worse after that. I'm pretty sure her entire epidermis is just one lump of cancer unless she's dead already since it's been many years. All in the name of ~beauty~, how sad.
It's illegal in Norway, thought that was the norm. I hope this passes, for the sake of Americas future.
Don't people do it anyways? I mean isn't our average blogger girl orange as an... orange? :v:
Indoor ultraviolet (UV) tanners are 74 percent more likely to develop melanoma than those who have never tanned indoors.
While I have no doubt this is true, and I have always thought indoor tanners absolutely ridiculous, I'm curious to see what is the frequency that the people would go for this number?

A mole does not, in most cases, mean cancer. Don't freak yourself out over it.
Skin Cancer is scary shit, too. It's sneaky. If you catch it early, it's nearly 100% treatable, but if it has progressed past a certain point your chances of survival plummet. Sadly, by the time you have physical symptoms (feelings of sickness), it is probably too late. The only thing you can do is regularly check your moles, and don't delay if you have any suspicious looking ones. I had a skin cancer scare last month, and coincidentally seeing this chart could have saved my life. I noticed several moles that looked dangerous, and went in to get them checked out. Turns out one was, but I had caught it early enough to simply cut it out right there in the office. http://www.ivillage.ca/sites/default/files/imagecache/node_photo_gallery_single_view/abcde-skin-cancer-chart-636.jpg Skin cancer is extremely common, even among people who don't tan. Approximately 1-in-5 people will get a melanoma during their lives. Check your moles for these potentially dangerous signs: -Asymmetry -Borders: jagged or notched edges -Colors: especially black, white, red, and blue splotches -Diameter: If it's bigger than a pencil eraser -Evolving: If the size or colors change between inspection
I have a ton of moles, bad gentics I guess. I have one that looks like the 2nd one in the bottom row but really light. Looks like I'm gonna go in for a checkup. I've had one that is about the thicknes of my thumb for as long as I can remember. Never changed size etc so I hope that one isn't bad news.
