Don't certain countries, Canada included, have final veto ability there?
No. China, Russia, United States, France and the United Kingdom; only the permanent members of the security council. The U.S would veto any resolution that fucks over Israel anyways.
It's obvious the US wants to stay BFFs with Israel so they can keep a part of the West in the Middle East.
I made another one guys Slightly less effort this time unfortunately.

They ignored the warning.
Discussing if the violence seems "legit" is a completely idiotic notion and serves only to try and get away from the real issue, namely that the IDF had absolutely No fucking right to board the ships in the first place, and all casualties following thereof is completely the IDFs responsibility. As it has been said before, they boarded the ships in international waters, and depending on how you see it, this is either a case of State sanctioned piracy, or a war crime against Turkey. Also, some of you should probably listen to what some of the people who actually was on the flotilla and has now been released has to say, there's a few of them on Al Jazeera, and others all over the media in Europe. Oh, and don't try and wave their opinions away as "Pro-Hamas activists" or "Hippies". There were important political figures on those ships, including a former politician from the US and a holocaust survivor. There were also a lot of journalists, and honestly at this point I'd take their word over what Israel says after what they've been trying to put out over the last couple of days.
Fuck off.
Ahem, and you are saying you have nothing in relation with Israel, and you are supporting them, just because you feel they are right?
I tried this time
Hate to kill the joke but it would need 5 DEFCON levels, you only have 4.
Hate to kill the joke but it would need 5 DEFCON levels, you only have 4.
It's not a defcon chart it's a terror alert chart
I tried this time
I think you have a great career ahead of you.

They got exactly what they wanted.
Ahh, so what would Hitler and Saddam be investigating? Their own "ship events"?
you fo' real bro?
destroyed automerge
Ahem, and you are saying you have nothing in relation with Israel, and you are supporting them, just because you feel they are right?
Ahem, I don't think they are right. Go away.
It's not a defcon chart it's a terror alert chart
They still have 5 levels.
I saw this coming
you fo' real bro?
Go away.
And had their supplies stripped by 3/4? No thank you.
So go against the Navy and pretend (sadly) they didn't expect it to happen?
You talk as if the only problem is that it occurred on the high seas. If they did it in their waters.
If they'd been stopped within the boarder of Gazas territorial boarder, the IDF would still be in the wrong, because the blockade is not acknowledged internationally, but it would've sparked another debate altogether. This was, however, a breach on the international maritime law, an issue that is taken VERY seriously.
They could've landed in Ashdod or in Egypt (and could've had their aid seen delivered), but they choose to try and breakthrough the Israeli blockade for the sake of confrontation. They got exactly what they wanted.
No they couldn't. One of the reasons this flotilla was sent in the first place was because Israel has a list (Which they didn't want to release officially until the international pressure got too heavy btw) of things that are illegal to import into Gaza, and this list contains some rather bizarre things, like Cement and other building materials, coriander, boxed fruits, toys, wheelchairs and tools for writing/education. Had they stopped in Ashad none of these goods would have been able to enter Gaza. And yes, the activists did probably expect a confrontation so that they could shed some more light on how retarded this illegal blockade really is, but I bet that they didn't expect anything of this magnitude, nor that Israel would go as far as to intercept them in international waters.
Well that settles it, The UN is completely incapable of accomplishing anything. and I really do hope that Turkey goes "well fuck you guys" and goes ahead with Naval escorts for the aid ships anyway.
Ahem, I don't think they are right. Go away.
Oh, I'm sorry about that. So I guess that's how arguments go. When you are wrong, you just wave off the people that are arguing with you.
So go against the Navy and pretend (sadly) they didn't expect it to happen?
I don't think they expected to get murdered, do you?
Oh, I'm sorry about that. So I guess that's how arguments go. When you are wrong, you just wave off the people that are arguing with you.
What? [editline]02:30AM[/editline]
I don't think they expected to get murdered, do you?
Actually, I honestly think they expected to be shot at maybe wounded, but maybe not killed, but as I said, it could (sadly) be expected by the IDF.
