It's not going to pass. You don't have 60 votes in the Senate, you don't have a majority in the House, so nothing you want is ever going to happen.
This bill has stuff in it both party's approve of. If the Republicans don't vote for this they're basically saying "We don't want a Republican to be president ever again"
It's being proposed by a Democrat, so they will never support it. It's not the first time they've gone against their own ideas with a straight face, practically everything Obama has tried to do was Republican policy at one point or another.
But remember: It also has to be one of his friends.
him and Jon Boner are good friends right?
Not every bill proposed by democrats has been shot down by the Republicans, the ones that benefit the Republicans usually get through especially. Maybe you should do some research.
That's just like something a republican would say!

There were plenty parts of the Speech where Republicans where thrilled. Unless true, 100% partisanship gets in the way, this is the kind of Act that every party should see some worth in.
He's fucking the country I'm going to inherit over even more. Another $447 BILLION?!?!?! And everyone thought Dubya was bad...... I understand, he's trying to do good. I'm all for it, personally, just not with the insanely high debt behind it.
He is adding a meeasure to cut other areas by half a trillion, did you listen to his speech?!
Is this gonna be like the New Deal or something? If so, it has a good chance of revitalizing the economy.

There will probably be full-partisan "We hate it because it's Obama's idea" Republicans, but probably not enough to completely throw away the bill. Of course, the republican senate leader himself said their primary goal should be to make Obama a 1-term president...
Did you even bother to listen? It's going to be paid for.
I didn't notice him saying what, exactly, is going to pay for it.
Some of Mr. Obama's opponents have already dismissed the jobs plan as a crude attempt to boost his flagging popularity in the run-up to next year's presidential election.
They would have done the exact same if he'd gotten up there and turned water into wine... that's kind of their thing.
Did you even bother to listen? It's going to be paid for.
I don't think he said how it will be paid for. Not to mention there is no bill yet.
I don't think he said how it will be paid for. Not to mention there is no bill yet.
They're doing more budget cuts before the end of the year, and they're adding the cost of the jobs bill to that. Just what we need, more cuts to important stuff.
They're doing more budget cuts before the end of the year, and they're adding the cost of the jobs bill to that. Just what we need, more cuts to important stuff.
What about taxing major corporations? It's not like they're doing anything with their money.
I don't think he said how it will be paid for. Not to mention there is no bill yet.
He said "it will be paid for" at least twice, and it will be done through cuts made in the Super Committee. It's probably going to be too far-reaching in terms of what is cut, but to say that it won't be paid for is false.
Is this gonna be like the New Deal or something? If so, it has a good chance of revitalizing the economy.
Nothing even close. $250 billion of it is just more tax cuts. The infrastructure bank will take years to set up and actually start getting work done. It's a nice sentiment, but it doesn't do shit for the millions of people that are out of work and watching the last of their unemployment benefits dwindle to nothing.
Nothing even close. $250 billion of it is just more tax cuts.
I admit, I'm not especially happy to just cut taxes, but at least this time it's a middle class tax cut that my have some good in it.
I admit, I'm not especially happy to just cut taxes, but at least this time it's a middle class tax cut that my have some good in it.
Maybe, but $250 billion in immediate infrastructure spending could provide a hell of a lot more jobs than any tax cut.
Maybe, but $250 billion in immediate infrastructure spending could provide a hell of a lot more jobs than any tax cut.
Yeah, but there's no way that would pass the GOP-House.
Oh yeah let's just forget about that 800billion stimulus that didn't do shit, and only a couple of weeks ago they wanted to cut the deficit and save money. Fuck it! Let's spend 400billion more of the same. Also
And everything in this bill will be paid for. Everything.
:suicide:
Oh yeah let's just forget about that 800billion stimulus that didn't do shit, and only a couple of weeks ago they wanted to cut the deficit and save money. Fuck it! Let's spend 400billion more of the same. Also :suicide:
yeah, the 800 billion stimulus, that was a republican idea. The 1.2 trillion stimulus was Obama's, and it DID help. Though it doesn't specify what will pay for this, this is required and I can't believe people like you haven't even taken the time to listen to the fucking plan or the speech or even try and understand what's going on before jumping on some sort of crazy fucking bandwaggon.

It was also highly critized since it didn't make many job and didn't impact the economy. I fucking hope they know what they are doing this time.

I fucking hope they know what they are doing this time.
The idea of the stimulus was more to prevent the imminent collapse of several of the largest banks in the nation (did not get that money back) and some of the largest companies in the nation (did get that money back, plus interest) while providing limited tax and other breaks elsewhere (some came back, some did not). In that respect, which is the only one it should be judged in, it was a success. It was made to save jobs and banks. It did just that.
Yeah, but there's no way that would pass the GOP-House.
bluh I wish democrats these days weren't such realists I want me some goddamn hippie democrat idealist, people who actually try doing things they believe in instead of kowtowing to a bunch of babies. Postponing everything won't help, the higher you climb the harder you fall.

We're only putting the nation in an even deeper hole for those who will inherit it after Obama is gone. I'm sorry, but Obama is a complete idiot.
rosar, you seem to have the answers, tell us what to do!!
