This entire "THINK OF THE KIDS" is bullshit, it's just an excuse for parents to blame and whine to someone else than themselves. If they were responsible parents they would see what kind of games their kids are playing, determine for themselves whether it is appropriate, and ALSO WHY ARE THEY BUYING R18 GAMES FOR THEIR KIDS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Got on steam, fuck ya!
If you are ever a parent I challenge you to be able to list every single thing your child plays/watches/reads/listens to/eats etc.
If you spent more time with your kid than 15 minutes worth of dinner each night, rather than naively constantly entrusting him/her to the "electronic babysitters", you'd at least have SOME degree of knowledge. The point here is that if (1) the stores make sure to not sell mature-rated games to minors and (2) the parents refrain from buying mature-rated games for their kid, there wouldn't be a problem at all. Point (1) usually isn't the problem. Parents still have the ultimate responsibility for what their kid is doing, yet act like they have no control when the problem is in fact that they don't care enough. Parents today can't be bothered or are afraid to exercise some authority over their kids and would rather prefer to blame stores, publishers, developers etc.
Stop trying to fucking dictate other people ratings boards and rabid christians, for fucks sake! How about leave ratings to the parents? Let them decide what they want their kid to see. For the rabid christians, how about only bothering people who opt into your retarded faith in the first place? Let them opt in if they want to hear your shit otherwise leave them the fuck alone.
Violent video games are destroying our kids futures. I fully support the christian lobby.

Aah yes, we all remember in the new testament where Jesus was being shot at by snipers.
Jim Wallace, of the Australian Christian Lobby, said the context of the violence was "rubbish" and the game should have been refused classification.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think WW2 would be the about best context for shooting a rifle at strangers, considering it had record high levels of it throughout the whole thing.

Ausie government can't handle the nutshots. Can't blame them, that shit's brutal.
but guyz voilent gams mak our childs SATANISTS!
X rays are 2D, they mean MRI or CAT scan footage of bullets tearing through people :v
Ausie government can't handle the nutshots. Can't blame them, that shit's brutal.
shit's awesome
Probably because you can kill Hitler in it...
I'm sure no one else gives two fucks.
This shit gets me mad. We might as well hand over children to a government program to be raised, because it seems that a lot of parents can't be arsed to do a proper job.
I really hate how the article says this: It really annoys me since retailers are doing their job, as long as parents do their job we won't be having this damned issue.
That's shoddy fucking journalism, someone should get on their shit about that
acl should be forcefully removed from the country
The game isn't even all that bad. I mean sure one or two of the X-Ray shots can be a bit cringeworthy - but they're not explicit in the slightest. There's not that much blood and effect on the corpses is minimal, as is the ability to inflict post-mortem damage on the corpses. There are far worse games than this, but it is just that, it's a video game. If parents don't want their kids playing violent video games, you don't give them cards for purchasing online, and you check over what they play. The ratings are there for a reason.
Just played through the demo... and wow... a good game is being released for once. It feels polished.
Australian and U.S politics both seem to share crazy religious lobbies.
I remember once a mother being whined at to buy San Andreas for her son, who was maybe 10 to 11 years old. She kept telling him she wasn't comfortable buying him an 18 rated game, but he was persistent. I was watching the entire thing, standing next to them, and she noticed me looking. Initially, I thought "oh shit, this is embarrassing" being caught looking but she actually came over and asked me if I'd ever played it. I told her yes, obviously and she asked what you do in it to make it an 18 rated game. I told her, she thanked me for my help, put the game back on the shelf, and pretty much dragged her son to find a more suitable game. She needed help, but it felt good seeing a parent do the right thing for once. The kid gave an incredibly dirty look though :v:
wrong
I'm sorry but that is awesome looking

Then my cousin came over with the PS2 version...
I never understood how it got to the point where they could completely ban games in Australia. It just seems weird to me to ban something because of the inappropriateness. I can understand certain age-restrictions but completely banning it is stupid.

It really isn't a massive big deal; only one or two games are banned out of hundreds each year (generally strip poker with porn images etc.)
I really hate how the article says this: It really annoys me since retailers are doing their job, as long as parents do their job we won't be having this damned issue.
It's the same as saying "The latest 'Saw' movie came out and is just waiting for cinemas to be filled with kindergarteners" No it won't because there are laws preventing it.

Have games been refused classification? Yes, but they are always modified slightly and so are still released as usual. Even then, only a small amount of games (definitely less than a dozen) actually do have to be modified for release every year.

But you're right though.
