the thing that confuses me is the classification of child porn. obviously most (if not all) 5 year-olds would have no idea what on earth sex is, so I get why people think that's bad. but what about a 15 year-old? in most western countries, pornography involving a 15 year-old can get you in deep shit. that makes no sense to me. 15 year-olds are sexually mature

It's the law. If you are 18 and have sex with someone under the age of consent in that state, even if they have given consent, it's called statuary rape and can get you in trouble. That's where the term jailbait comes from.
