Do you even know what's in this book? I really don't think you're in the position to judge whether he was rightfully convicted or not.
Perhaps he just felt like putting in his two cents, unrelated to the argument...?
Why are all the anime lovers defending pedophilia? ()
Could be because we are more open to other cultures, other ways of thinking. That is like asking why women fight for Gay Rights. Why would they? They can't be gay.
The judge is abusing their power. It is far too much of a stretch to put him in jail because they think he probably exchanged pictures. There needs to be evidence for this, evidence that he did exchange the pictures. They are just trying to get him in jail, first through hoping that there were some illegal content in the book, and now through an absence of legitimate evidence.
You missed an opportunity for great pun.. shoulda capitalised the LAX for extra lulz:

i am not in the buisness of extra nor lulz
It's like using my ownership of a car to arrest me for drug trafficking
I'd say it was more like them using the fact they've watched you drive into the hideout of a known drug cartel to arrest you for drug trafficking.

they can be, we just tend to call female gays lesbians. They're still gay.
You don't need to be closed minded to disagree. You need it to hate without reason.
Not going to read the thread, so sorry if it's already been asked.
But did they have anything physical to arrest him with?
From the sounds of it, the judge "found probable cause that Greaves had distributed the obscene material depicting minors engaged in harmful activities." from just reading the book, and on that alone, they arrested him. Unless this book has this "obscene material," or they found evidence of him doing so, I'm not quite sure what they arrested him on.

Yes but male homosexuality has been for a long time been considered a bad thing by society. Lesbians haven't been, and not to such an extent. (I would be happy if you could prove me wrong)
that's good, but you missed the part where
" Greaves has been charged with distribution of obscene material depicting minors engaged in conduct that is harmful to them."
it's child porn
hahahaha
go google 'lolicon'
Lesbians haven't been considered a bad thing because women have been considered a bad thing.
The fact that the judge had to jump immediately to the probable cause argument means that there was nothing legally wrong with the book.
The more and more I read about this book in the news, the more I want to read it.

It's a really handy book for "just in case."
I do not agree with what he says, but I will defend to the death his right to say it.
he's telling people how to rape kids correctly he deserves neither your defense or your attenion
he's telling people how to rape kids correctly he deserves neither your defense or your attenion
Making exceptions to things based on your own moral code is dangerous
hopefully he'll find a way to re-release it while in jail
So wait. The article says that, after reading through the book, detectives submitted it to the judge and got a warrant for the man's arrest because the book is "depicting minors engaged in sexual acts." But when they arrested him, his walls were covered in (presumably "normal") pornography.
So he's going to be released, right?
he's telling people how to rape kids correctly he deserves neither your defense or your attenion
There's a lot of "how to" for murder or body disposal too, they did not get arrested.
he's telling people how to rape kids correctly he deserves neither your defense or your attenion
There's nothing wrong with separating your moral code and your legal beliefs.
It doesn't look like any legitimate evidence has been put forward that proves he was involved in sex with a minor or child pornography.
Wasn't this book satirical?

rules are rules regardless of circumstances. Truth.

Yes, and in America, the single most important rule is the first amendment.

I won't disagree but everyone seems to think they carted him off for having written the book. They still can't do anything unless they actually find that he does possess child pornography.
pedophiles should be institutionalized and rehabilitated, not put in prison where they'll be raped and murdered by the other inmates. it's a mental disease, but we just label them as criminals.

If he does somehow get tried becase there is "probable cause" then there is no way he is going to be found not guilty by the jury. The only way they should be able to charge him for anything is if they conduct a search of his personal property and find concrete evidence that he is guilty, and lets just assume the search is fair. As of right now, he's done nothing legally wrong.
What kind of fucked up legal system will arrest you because you write books that many people disagree with. What happened to freedom of the press.

Yes but how is a book in any way probable cause?
If I wrote a book about how I would murder someone, that doesn't mean I've done it.

explain
Normally I'd agree that books shouldn't be censored, but he wrote on book on how to rape children for fucks sake, he even included pictures. The book should be destroyed and he should be jailed.
bullshit arrest
