It's not about Trump's supporters, though. I don't believe for a moment that any die-hard Trump supporter will see this comment and change their mind, because it's far from the worst thing he's said. What this election, and every election, boils down to are the relatively small margins of undecided voters. Trump's polls were already nosediving after the debates, but such a massive collapse of support from within his own party this late in the election it is virtually guaranteed that he will not be able to recover. At this point, it's all about the numbers, and Trump just doesn't have them anymore. The number of undecided voters shrinks by the hour, making it much MUCH harder to swing the needle back in his favor before election day, especially with only two debates left (and tomorrow is almost certainly not going to go in his favor with this hanging over his head -- it's a town hall debate).

you start off with some biases that come from your environment, friends, family, etc. and then you go on facebook or 4chan or wherever and start seeing things hand-picked to confirm those biases. having your biases confirmed feels good and the neat infographics and charts make you feel smart and you fall further and further down the hole
