Hardly anyone on here would vote Clinton if Trump wasn't the other option.
No we wouldn't vote her if we didn't have to but because Trump is the option, and he's the worst possible option dwarfing Clinton in terms of "Potential consequences" then yeah
Clinton dropping dead and being replaced by someone else would have me consider it. I don't know what it would take to sway my vote while Clinton is running, but its not impossible.
What if Trump walked down fifth avenue and shot somebody? Would you stick by him?

Yes, I get that second part, but I still want you to post them. I'm just curious. You can send it in a PM if you want to.
Trump could shoot ripbillymays and he'd still vote for him
Can't vote if I'm dead
I honestly feel kind of bad for RIPBILLYMAYS
There are lots of stupid people on this forum but they don't get dogged on nearly as consistently as ol billy does. Even among FP's Trump supporters, he's not even the same tier of lolcow as orgonot or cody.
you so obviously feel powerless about the political process. you feel like you've been denied your birthright. I forget if you wanted bernie to win, but it sounds like you're absolutely fucked off with every aspect of society. everything feels like a sick joke since he lost.
but you see what bernie's doing now that he's out of the primary? he's sticking around. he's making sure the democrats lean towards a progressive future. he's making a goddamn difference, a positive difference. not an easy solution, because there are no easy solutions.
societies can't just quantum jump to another state without taking the intervening steps. you ever hear of the Overton window? that's the range of ideas that the public is willing to accept. to get your ideas recognised, you don't go for the maddest shit first, even if it's blatantly what the country needs. you have to push hard for something that the public is willing to accept, using reasoned arguments, and eventually it'll catch on if you push hard enough. this drags the window in your direction and lets you introduce new ideas to the public, which are closer to what you want to achieve.
I promise, you are voting for trump because you feel powerless and afraid. you should take back that power in a positive way that enacts meaningful change. go and hawk your pet issue. back it up with really good arguments and research. change people's minds for the better.
Can't vote if I'm dead
YOU ADMIT IT.
YOU'VE ACTUALLY ADMITTED IT.
OH MY GOD, YOU WOULD ACTUALLY VOTE FOR YOUR MURDERER.
billy, do you not see the problem with this
What if Trump walked down fifth avenue and shot somebody? Would you stick by him?
Probably not.

I'd probably still vote Clinton if it were Cruz or Rubio.

no, i'd still vote clinton even if the alternative was chris christie or whoever
the republican party has turned into the "rights and freedoms, as long as you're a straight white male" party, and i can't in good faith let them continue to push that
Can't vote if I'm dead
I'm legit questioning if you are mentally stable that you'd vote for someone that shot you
Probably not.
'probably'
jasus i don';t want to seem like i'm shitting on you too hard tonight but you are on a role
are you OK, you seem to be having a meltdown.
Seriously. The only answer to that question has to be 'absolutely fucking not.' Not 'probably.'

The problem is that proposal is absurd. If Trump actually shoots me or someone I'll be the first to let you know how it affects my vote
I'd probably still vote Clinton if it were Cruz or Rubio.
If you'll vote for a robot, might as well go with one with boobs.
If [del]Trump loses[/del] nuclear goes nowhere then you can expect to see me run for office in 10 years. Activism and outreach does jack shit when no one understands science, or even bothers to try learning science. The only hope for me would be to fix bs myself.
[sp]Can't wait for election scandals to come back to my time here[/sp]
you have to be patient with people. you have to learn patience and show compassion. offer people hope. "hey, did you know that we could completely reduce our energy dependency on foreign oil with nuclear power? did you know that..."
Just noticed that 538 now rates a double-digit Clinton landslide as more likely than Trump winning the popular vote
Still rates it really unlikely though
i think that was supposed to be a joke
oh, he's joking but he means it
that's another trump quote for ya too
The problem is that proposal is absurd. If Trump actually shoots me or someone I'll be the first to let you know how it affects my vote
i mean he's said that if he shot someone people would still vote for him
so it's not COMPLETELY absurd.
you got to have hope. trump offers more fear, more anger and more suffering
no, i'd still vote clinton even if the alternative was chris christie or whoever

I can't in good conscience vote for a party that works against mitigating climate change as doggedly as the Republicans do. It's the closest thing to a "single issue" I have.
I really don't identify with Democrats (this year is the first year I registered a Democrat, didn't vote for Obama in 2008 or 2012) but realistically they are the only alternative at this point.
I can't believe that you'd think Trump is more competent when in the midst of troubled times with racial relations, a guy that has 1% vote of african-americans is a good thing
The problem is that proposal is absurd. If Trump actually shoots me or someone I'll be the first to let you know how it affects my vote
It really is like talking with a cultist
"What if the great leader betrayed you? would you stop worshiping him then?"
"The great leader would NEVER betray me!"
like you're so completely possessed by blind faith that you can't even bring yourself to imagine a hypothetical scenario where you were wrong
The problem is that proposal is absurd. If Trump actually shoots me or someone I'll be the first to let you know how it affects my vote
It's not about the proposal so much as your response.
Like if Clinton shot someone in the street (much less shot me) I would instantly disavow her and prepare for 4 years of Trump. The fact that you have to say "probably" and promise to get back to us is bizarre.
this thread has basically become an intervention for ripbillymays to save him from the Trumpets
this thread has basically become an intervention for ripbillymays to save him from the Trumpets
people are calling him a cultist and shit
just drives him further into a hole
I can't even believe he's a nuclear physics student
How can someone so much more capable and probably smarter than me make such a dumb decision

this is why wisdom and intelligence are different stats
you have to be patient with people. you have to learn patience and show compassion. offer people hope. "hey, did you know that we could completely reduce our energy dependency on foreign oil with nuclear power? did you know that..."
The reality is that climate change wise its already too late. We needed to start building fleets of nuclear reactors years ago just to replace our existing fleet, and then we would have to double our nuclear capacity on top of it. Nuclear at this point isn't going to affect climate change, only give us clean air and decent energy grid security.
Energy and national security are boring to most people. I went to a major nonproliferation meeting (CNEC) that was public, and barely 30 people showed up even though you had top security and industry leaders on the panel. Environmentalists aren't open to nuclear because they think renewables will solve everything and nuclear waste isn't manageable.
Believe me, I have worked in outreach and frequently discuss nuclear with people I meet. I go up to Climate Change/Green Energy tables to talk to them about nuclear and they don't take me seriously.

Honestly, he isn't the first nuclear physics student I met that makes some seriously dumb decisions in politics.

There is a significant difference between the different amount of intelligences. Personally I'm fairly socially terrible but I think academically I'm alright and I know a good amount about computers.
I think we should stop insulting him however. I'm genuinely worried for him.
