Lets ban all firearms and hookers and anything really.
In a case where it is very hard to determine the consent and the practice can potentially end up causing a lot of harm with a low detection rate, I'd say it would be a sacrifice for the greater good. How would the actual abusers be more likely than the "good guys" to stay unharmed anyway? I'm saying make a legal part illegal because it's hard to prevent it from being done in an illegal way.
We should make alcohol illegal (again) because it's hard to prevent people from beating their wives when they're drunk! No, because you don't punish all the innocent people for the actions of the few guilty. Child abuse has low detection rate, but there's not much we can do to prevent it. Same goes for animal abuse, both sexual and non-sexual. Banning it won't stop the abusive people from abusing/raping animals, because it already is a crime and they obviously do it. It just makes the people who have actual emotional connections with their animals criminals, and those aren't the bad guys.
Lets ban all firearms and hookers and anything really.
Hello, Sweden here :v: [editline]6th July 2012[/editline]
We should make alcohol illegal (again)
I'm in favor of this, there's plenty of drugs with less harmful effects that are currently illegal.
Hello, Sweden here :v:
Neither hookers or firearms are banned. And beastiality is legal as well.
Neither hookers or firearms are banned. And beastiality is legal as well.
Aren't they illegal until you get a license, and then you can only collect them (provided they're stripped of all parts that make them actually work), or do hunting with them and no target shooting or anything. And by that I mean firearms Or is it like in 'Murrica except fewer people own firearms? I know it's not allowed to carry firearms in public though, or concealed in public. And instead you need to keep them at home - And that raises me another question, can you even use them for self defense (at home) here if you've got a license and everything? Don't mean to sound ignorant but I'm just very curious to how the gun laws work over here
Neither hookers or firearms are banned. And beastiality is legal as well.
I know bestiality is legal here. Like I said earlier in the thread, I hope Germany goes through with these changes so perhaps Sweden will follow suit. I was not aware that hookers were not banned though, I've only ever seen one in Sweden on a television program and apparently she had some sort of government approval to be able to work with it for a living. As for fire arms... we don't allow personal fire arms, we only allow them for hunting, and it's illegal to carry any form of concealed weapons. So aside for rifles for hunting with, we basically don't allow any guns. They're pretty strictly for hunting, never meant for shooting at people.
I was not aware that hookers were not banned though
It's legal to sell sex, but it's illegal to buy.
It's legal to sell sex, but it's illegal to buy.
What. How :v:
What. How :v:
The government doesn't want to criminalise the prostitutes.
The government doesn't want to criminalise the prostitutes.
Oh. That makes sense I guess. Still, I wouldn't count that as "hooker being legal", since it's not legal to buy their services. Or... well, it's a complicated manner. I'm guessing the government sees them as victims, and people who buy their services as perpetrators.
It's legal to be a prostitute, it's illegal to visit one, thus hookers are legal.
Doesn't that technically still make prostitutes accomplices for the guy who buys sex? Aren't there laws against accomplicing to a crime? Funny legal situation aside, I think prostitutes should be legal. Means there will be more transparency and regulation, rather than shady people doing it underground and illegally.
I'm in favor of this, there's plenty of drugs with less harmful effects that are currently illegal.
What, you think the 1920's prohibition was a superior situation, alcohol wise? The prohibition era is what happens when you illegalize drugs. It's not something we should see as a good thing.
I'm in favor of this, there's plenty of drugs with less harmful effects that are currently illegal.
One word: Prohibition.
Doesn't that technically still make prostitutes accomplices for the guy who buys sex? Aren't there laws against accomplicing to a crime?
No, because what the prostitute is doing is legal. You can't be an accomplice when you're doing nothing wrong.
Yeah but what the guy is doing is illegal. And the prostitute would technically be helping him. Thus, the prostitute is being an accomplice by helping the man commit the crime of buying sex. ???

(at least in the places in Europe we are talking about)
Except you get nutrients in meat that you wouldn't get from living your life off plants. Eating nothing but vegetables and fruit is really unhealthy. It causes your libido to drop to almost nothing and you'd probably have decreased stamina and strength due to decreased amounts of protein.
Not a vegan but it is not impossible to get every nutrient you need from plant food. Meat can be substituted with mushrooms and soy or beans iirc. Also that "libido goes down and you become weak" part is non-factual and you know it, sounds just like some school myth. Edit: You can even get your healthy fats from sunflower seeds if you are too picky for butter.
Buying sex isn't a crime either though? (at least in the places in Europe we are talking about)
I think we might be talking about Sweden at this point?
I know bestiality is legal here. Like I said earlier in the thread, I hope Germany goes through with these changes so perhaps Sweden will follow suit.
