Oh yes. He is a spoiled manchild for wanting Valve, what started as a game development company mind you, to make a new game or at least acknowledge that a new game is in the works.
Oh but the only way you'll be satisfied is if you get a game? Despite the company not wanting to work on games anymore, after making blockbuster after blockbuster? By the very definition of the term I think that is very spoiled. Also, has anyone really thought of the corner they wrote themselves into with Half Life ep2? Where does the resistance go to find a way to defeat the ultra galactic empire of the Combine? How do you create a finale to the story they've written? How do you not make it into a saturday morning cartoon with everything wacky you would have to conclude? It may just be better to leave that cliff hangar at what it is. The humans lost.
A lot people just don't care about Steam OS, Steambox, or the Steam controller. Manly because they already have the means to game on their PC well. So that leaves what people want from Valve to two things. Source 2 and a new game. So I guess you can say one hearing of all the hardware and software news would make them feel unsatisfied when they have been waiting for a finish to a beloved story for years and years. But does that make them selfish for wanting something that has already been promised to them?
They take their previous game, change up some things and sell it as a new game in november. Think its about damn time Valve got with the times.
you're right, valve software developers of Counter Strike, Counter Strike Source, Counter Strike Global Offensive, Left 4 Dead 1, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 1, Portal 2, Half Life 1, Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Episode 1, Half Life 2 Episode 2, and Dota 2 need to get with the times of developing sequels
You seem to forget most of the Valve development team is working with the Steambox, Controller, VR gaming AND Source 2; you know, an engine that will not doubt provide you more great experiences and games then one single playthrough of half life 3 would.
yeah dota is awesome
Valve should just fuck off until they get back to their roots. I'm sick and tired of all these rumors. The only thing valve is good for is steam. At least I have the new Doom game to look forward to and we already saw game play so yep :)
I still adore the idea of a massive mega-tank that you basically can't fight, like a zombie Kaiju
Left 4 Dead 2's maps being remade in a new engine.
was a tech demo from 2013 or something. its not related to l4d3
using nostalgia purely as a thing to hold back your views on a company very spoiled actually
Nostalgia? Nostalgia is a sentimentality for the past of something. Valve making good games is not an exaggeration by nostalgia. The fact that you call it nostalgia for me wanting valve to make games again kinda implies that you think I'm only talking about their old titles like half life, which I'm not. Or are you agreeing that they haven't made a game in so long that I can't look at a time when they did make games without being nostalgic?

I mean i get theres a desire for Half-Life 3 but you sound like a fucking four year old.
yeah dota is awesome
I love those sick memes, bruh. Just admit the only reason you're saying this is because you want Half-Life. Thats it. Thats entirely what you're saying. Go ahead, admit it, "I wont accept that they've done anything because its not Half-Life" [editline]10th January 2016[/editline] I mean if you people are going to whine about Valve not making things, at least have the decency to admit that you're just whining about them not releasing Half-Life and you're finding excuses to whine about it. Incredibly, INCREDIBLY petty, childish sounding excuses that actually have no basis in reality.
It's just a rumor so it has no value. Still, L4D3 is more likely than any other game from Valve. I feel like L4D2 already did a lot gameplay-wise so unless they want to go more complex (which I wouldn't mind) it will be a showcase of the new engine.
"L4D2 did a lot gameplay-wise"? What did it do differently from L4D1 aside from add melee weapons and a few new special infected? (one in which is completely awful and didn't need to be added to the game) L4D2 was a pretty piss-poor sequel in terms of adding new things, especially considering how quickly they pushed it out and the overall quality of said new things were pretty low.

Valve doesn't have infinite employees, and they aren't gonna drop shit they've probably invested millions into to build a new game because a minority of their fanbase is calling them the worst company ever over it. Valve hasn't released a game for less than 3 years because they're exploring some new options that would be sweet for gamers and them, and I'm sure once they push those out, you can expect a new game.

I'm a fan of L4D1 over 2, but they certainly added a lot.
And that was a year of dev time. Imagine how long L4D3 has been in the oven hoo boy.
Maybe its ado about all that day-night cycle funsies in the recent leak?
Maybe its ado about all that day-night cycle funsies in the recent leak?
Dont forget the map sizes have no limits now, so safehouses might not require loading screens. Levels might be open and massive now too.
Dont forget the map sizes have no limits now, so safehouses might not require loading screens. Levels might be open and massive now too.
I wonder how an open world L4D game would work, that would actually be pretty cool.
Dont forget the map sizes have no limits now, so safehouses might not require loading screens. Levels might be open and massive now too.
Assuming they did still have safehouses akin to the last two, they'll probably use them for level streaming instead.
Assuming they did still have safehouses akin to the last two, they'll probably use them for level streaming instead.
Shit like this makes me excited for Source 2.
L4D2 on top of adding new weapons, added common specials, ammo types, dynamic routes, mini-crescendos, changing weather, defibs, and a few more things I'm probably forgetting. I'm a fan of L4D1 over 2, but they certainly added a lot.
Never said L4D2 was a bad game, it's a better game than L4D1 in every aspect aside from quality and polish. Most of what you listed are pretty small things that aren't nearly as noteworthy as you make them sound. Dynamic routes? They're so minuscule and barely make a difference. Changing weather is just "it's raining, now it's not." and it's only for 1 or 2 campaigns. Common specials were a good start. Ammo types could've been implemented to have more of an impact on gameplay, instead of "always pick it up because there's no downside to them." L4D3 should give us the ability to select what alternate ammo type we want at ammo resupply areas, such as armor penetrating rounds to counter Riot cop zombies, and we can toggle between special rounds and regular rounds for whenever we need them. Of course, you have significantly less special ammo than regular ammo. When I say "adding new gameplay" I meant actually adding new gameplay, not slapping more content on top of what's already there. Add completely new mechanics, like crawling while incapacitated, weapon upgrading, survivor upgrading, REAL weather changes such as: wind, which could slow you down if you're heading in the opposite direction the wind is blowing and will effect the direction that grenades fly to. Heavy Rain did a pretty good job at the whole "rain creates speed-effecting water" but I'd like to see that expanded upon. Snow would also be amazing and would probably work well in Source 2. Dynamic snow that builds up and gets thicker the longer the game goes on for. Slows down zombies but also slows you down. There is a lot you can do with Left 4 Dead, they just didn't do it with L4D2 because they rushed it out the door so stupidly quick.
Maybe its ado about all that day-night cycle funsies in the recent leak?

Dont forget the map sizes have no limits now, so safehouses might not require loading screens. I don't wanna get too hyped on speculation but fuck it, those make sense. :hypeisreal:

I only wish they'd separate it from Dota 2 by now. I'm racking up hundreds of hours in a game I never play.

Also, someone imported a (admittedly simple) model of Paris, France, to scale, into Source 2, it ran fine. You pull that shit in Source 1 and your computer would detonate.
There's been a LOT of Valve talk lately. I love it.
which,.? because if jocky agree I do
Yeah. I love the Charger and Spitter (though Charger has some issues too). Jockey is just horribly designed.
Yeah. I love the Charger and Spitter (though Charger has some issues too). Jockey is just horribly designed.
I remember when l4d2 tried to be competitive once (confogl). S.I. failed so much in that mode
I remember when l4d2 tried to be competitive once (confogl). S.I. failed so much in that mode
L4D2 had a pretty decently sized competitive scene from what I've...seen. But yeah good survivors and their hitscan weapons were miles better than good S.I. teams. Anyway I would absolutely love a new L4D. If not for the gameplay, then for the new characters and maybe possibly perhaps a new comic.
