I'm pretty sure there is a columbine card actually.
I've yet to see it, only Virginia Tech Massacre, probably because it was a college so it's okay I only have like two of the expansions though
I think I just played that exact same card during an online round of CAH this morning. I even won the round with it. Seriously though, fucking tired of these buttmad, sensitive Tumblr faggots ruining all of the fun things in life. There are so very many worse cards, and combinations of cards that can and are regularly used in this game. And they just had to complain about this one in particular.
lol tumblr
Yeah OK, angry at what? words printed in paper? this game is pretty funny, I actually got the perfect cards for a black card "This year's hottest album is "The Jews" by "Being on fire""
One of the creators of the game, Max Temkin apologised on his Tumblr account, saying: "I regret writing this card, it was a mean, cheap joke. We took it out of the game a while ago."
A while ago? I'm pretty sure it's in the deck I printed 2 weeks ago However, it is cards against humanity, the title of the game is that it's a game against humanity. Of course it's offensive
"I was only looking at the issues which affected me personally, and I was allowing myself to find everything else funny because I wasn't the person to whom it's directed," he said. "I truly regret making this post, not because I've gotten a bit of shit for it but because I am appalled at myself that I didn't see what I was doing."
At least he got the hint afterwards.
The game doesn't contain any slurs does it? I mean obviously it's offensive, but it doesn't actually use any particular slurs directed at a particular minority though?
Honestly there is a point here, transvestite is antiquated and considered a slur, it's more like if the cards were "kikes" and "niggers". The people who made this game did have limits, which included slurs. Notice there aren't any 9/11 or Columbine cards. I'm guessing since they made this in high school in some Midwest town they simply weren't aware it was a slur. I really wasn't until like a year ago.
As a more formal term for cross-dressers or people in drag, it still fits. Some people consider it a slur, but unless you find people who just cross-dress offensive the only issue is in differentiating transvestites from people who are transgender.
why is this news? it's literally a couple of tumblr posts
Why the fuck did they buy the game then? This game is designed to get people like this out of your house.
Edgy trans kid who only has edgy trans friends buys an "edgy" game so they can all laugh at everyone except themselves and the moment one of them is offended, suddenly the game isn't fun and it's serious business. Typical teenagers with low self esteem who only hang out with people who will agree with their bullshit, except these teens are trans... and edgy.
I don't get why people do this. That is, kowtow to the whims of a select individual who get outraged by things as a force of habit. By apologizing you are basically reinforcing their behavior. Its not like you game is going to get closed down by a tumblr crybaby.
why is this news? it's literally a couple of tumblr posts
Because Facepunch cares about tumblr more than tumblr does
this is incredibly stupid and incredibly redundant not to mention arrogant. On the arrogance front, of all cards, it's THIS one that an apology was felt needed and given? Aren't these people crying about this overlooking more important issues or, for that matter and keeping it full relevant, more pressing and legitimate 'offensive' cards to take up arms against? I'm glad that the person at ground zero of this at least realized it
"I was only looking at the issues which affected me personally, and I was allowing myself to find everything else funny because I wasn't the person to whom it's directed,"

why is this news? it's literally a couple of tumblr posts
It's newsbeat which is basically BBC news for teenagers.
As a more formal term for cross-dressers or people in drag, it still fits. Some people consider it a slur, but unless you find people who just cross-dress offensive the only issue is in differentiating transvestites from people who are transgender.
It's actually more a sub set of crossdressers, transvestite is people who crossdress as a sexual fetish, rather than just because they enjoy it/like womens/mens clothes. It as a slur if used for trans women/men as it implies their gender identity is actually a fetish rather then who they are.
Also
Somebody played that card, and somebody else was like, 'That's not okay.'
Imagine how awkward that would be for the kid who played it
Also Imagine how awkward that would be for the kid who played it
A house rule for playing the game with me is actually that if you legitimately offend someone through the cards, you win the game. In my game this guy would have won man.
"I regret writing this card, it was a mean, cheap joke. We took it out of the game a while ago."
And 'Jade Goodie's cancerous remains' isn't? This is just being idiotic, I didn't find the card offensive and I don't see how anyone else can. I'm still trying to see the transphobia in it.
Taking CAH seriously is like being a republican. It´s ridiculos.
Nothing like some good old self-censorship. I thought CAH were funny, but this type of bending over to criticism "just because it's transphobic" is pathetic.
Also Imagine how awkward that would be for the kid who played it
It wouldn't be. Everyone would just laugh at the guy who got offended.
one of those "complain because we can" things when a card game will literally not affect their lives in any shape or form.
It wouldn't be. Everyone would just laugh at the guy who got offended.
... Except that didn't happen in the story?
Oh my god why would you apologize it's one of the most useful cards in the game [editline]24th June 2014[/editline] And even then Transvestites don't get the right to be offended. That's like saying something akin to fucking "Fursecution" or whatever, jesus. Transvestites are the ones who dress up as the other sex for fetishist pleasure. It has _nothing_ to do with the LGBT spectrum.
At least he said he realized he shouldn't have gotten offended. That's good of him.
It seems to me that rather than tumblr being the cool edgy babies here, it's everyone who's complaining in here. If the creator recognized it as a mistake and apologized shouldn't you feel a little bit worse for continuing to use it? And the fact that some people use phrases like 'tumblr faggots' just emphasizes this because you're using slurs to defend slurs. And don't give me any bull about how it isn't one because hurr durr South Park. You wouldn't use the N word when commenting on sensationalist headlines so I don't know why you're okay with sexual slurs.
Good thing the copy my university games club has still has this card. We've got all the expansions and the Canadian pack too.

It's SUPPOSED to be offensive and stupid. That's the gist of it, and that's what people are defending here. Besides the originally offended guy admitted it was fucking stupid of him, and that he regret doing it.
Except you'll notice there is no N-word card, no cards of religious slurs, and no other slurs towards sexualities in the game?
There's plenty of that kind of stuff in CAH, what are you talking about
