Hahaha, "Halloween masks." It makes them sound like some novelty band.
Wow, the way the title is worded makes it sound like OP is a month late
But after reading the article I understand

Yeah, he died a month ago, but they just released the cause of death. (Right?)
You have no concept of how music works do you?
Bass is Bass, hurp. I know exactly how "music works." You can look a hundreds of bands other than slipnot, and you can hear the bass perfectly. The guitars in slipknot are just so aggressive that you can barely hear the bass playing, you barely even notice it if you were to take out the bass guitar work entirely. The bass player's role in that band is nothing more than a joke.
They just do shit, unoriginal work with it. Even if you cut out the bass playing from any given song, you'd barely notice it whereas if you cut out the vocals, guitars, or drums you'd be like "wtf is this?" Bass isn't some magical force of the universe, it's a guitar with very thick strings that plays low notes. If the normal guitar/s are already generating a lot of bass frequencies, playing downtuned strings with high gain you're not going to hear the bass guitar very much. Sure, it might be playing in a lower octave, but you don't actually hear any of the notes or sound that it produces, you don't even notice it if it's been taken out (talking about slipnot, not bass in general). That's what slipknot does, heavy gain, and a heavy bass setting on their regular guitars playing "brutal" chugs on lower tunings, so with all that low end muddiness, you can barely even hear the fucking bass player. They'll just get another bass player, it's not like he performed some irreplaceable, completely invaluable service to the band. The guy wasn't renowned for his amazing bass skills. If you're doing going to do a lame, flat bassline, why even bother in the first place? The guitars produce so much noise that the bassline is nothing but a wet fart in the wind.
Maybe if slipknot was playing live, you'd notice the bass because you'd feel it, but anything that recorded it seems very underplayed. You'll know when a song has an awesome bassline because it stands out, and is catchy on it's own. Every song I've heard by slipnot has dreadfully mediocre bass simply for the fact that it's nearly inaudible. It's like a very faint puttering sound behind the guitars. It's like saying a drummer only has to keep a very simple beat, or a guitar can only play open chords. Just because it's a bass guitar, doesn't mean you can't do anything more than a dull, empty bassline.
I knew that it was overdose on something.
-snip-
Whats with all he musicians dying?
I'm not a fan of Slipknot, but they kicked ass, you just can't argue about that...

I have no sympathy anymore. I thought it would be drugs. What a fool when he has a kid on the way. Irresponsible tool.
I dunno man, how he couldn't even clean up when his wife was pregnant is beyond me. Still, he will be missed.
at least it was pain-less death.
Saying its terrible music is an opinion, and I disagree with that.
fuckin owned
It's slipknot. It really doesn't matter.
So a human dying doesn't matter because you don't like the band?
You're fucking pathetic.
Slipknot just became massive sellouts and no without Paul I cant really see them lasting much longer.

Well first off you're an idiot. I dunno about you but I can hear the bass. But whatever. And I never said he was some bass god or anything. I'm sure they'll either get a new guy or have one of the guitarists take bass

When said human is irresponsible and stupid it can be safe to say that his life however great was ended for a stupid and unnescesary reason.

Of course it was stupid and unnecessary but that doesn't mean you can't feel sorry for the guy
You win again, morphine!
I don't like 'em, but it sucks he died,
Exactly, since it's entirely their fault.
So if i die of natural causes it's your fault right
Anyone that says stupid shit this obviously never had someone in your family that died from drugs or a close friend.
well what am i talking about you're all children anyways.
Thank god for morphine.
The band looks like a bunch of massive douchebags with all the faggoty looking masks and shit anyways.
Of course it was stupid and unnecessary but that doesn't mean you can't feel sorry for the guy
I feel sorry for the people he left behind.
