Not really. It doesn't include 'marital status' as a discrimination, for a start.
Thank you, and I feel that this image sums up my feelings about it quite well.

It doesn't feel the same because it isn't even labelled as being the same, and no matter how close it is that will always make me feel it is unequal.
I still think that civil unions should be what the government gives you, and marriage should be a completely separate status given to you by the church.

There was a pretty intense debate at my school about whether gay marriage should be allowed and I was surprised when the the team selected to argue against it came up with a much better solution.
Their idea was to deregulate marriage so that anyone can get married to anyone and make it so that it is up to the person conducting the marriages that decides who he does it for. Maybe it seems like it encourages discrimination if you consider that a person can choose not to marry two people but overall it allows anyone to marry anyone so long as they can find someone willing to do it for them.

Marriage existed before christianity, you know.
Section 2 covers it:
"Sec. 2. Section 1 of this proclamation shall not apply with respect to any person otherwise covered by section 1 where the entry of such person would not harm the foreign relations interests of the United States."
The state department can still deny entry to foreign ambassadors.
I think it's mostly symbolic. People could argue that it's completely useless, but I like the fact he's taking an official stance on human rights.
that actually eases some of my concern
i was thinking that the us is full of 3rd world dictators and officers who have committed or tried to commit genocide and shit
good Obama, good. Now ban the human rights violators that are already in the US
like who?

Republicans?
I kid, I kid. Maybe.
As bad as anyone like LGBT rights violators are, I kind of disagree with the denial of letting someone on soil which truthfully isn't anyone's to claim, or that there's even the possibility of refusing someone entry on a place or continent on Earth.
No matter what Obama does, I will still hate him.
No matter what Obama does, I will still hate him.
Why?
People eat this up just so Obama can sit in the spotlight and be treated like a god.
If Kennedy did this, people would've just looked at it and say "That's good" and never think about it again.
this is good, less idiots coming in... now how about going a step further and purge the whole country from human rights violators already in here?
So a good portion of the military interrogators?
No matter what Obama does, I will still hate him.
So reasonable, obviously.
No matter what Obama does, I will still hate him.
"My hatred for Obama is unreasonable and idiotic, and I admit this openly"
"My hatred for Obama is unreasonable and idiotic, and I admit this openly"
Oh shit, a different opinion!!!
Oh shit, a different opinion!!!
Opinion = "I dislike Obama based on his policy choices and actions as president."
Unreasonable = "I'll always hate Obama no matter what!"
Obama has done some good things but I don't know. [sp]I believe in conspiracies and Illuminati. Therefore I think Obama and Bush are just dolls for the government, a distraction. Although, Facepunch is not really famous for liking this kind of stuff or doubting the government so I'll just leave it in spoiler tags.[/sp]
Kennedy is still my favorite US president, though.

I won't shit on your opinion, but you should know something. That's incorrect.

I would agree with your crazed conspiracy theorizing, but I get tend to get my facts through evidence, rather than DMX and 2pac lyrics.

La-li-lu-le-lo. La-li-lu-le-lo!
But seriously, why do people constantly give presidents such a bad rap? They're in no way in charge of lawmaking, they can only make suggestions to Congress and veto bills (which can be overridden). Is it just because they're figureheads?

I don´t know, man. I think those jews are involved too.
ANY alien fitting the description with the exclusion of ones that are of diplomatic interest will be banned from entry.
Can we please stop calling humans 'aliens'? It's pretty much the epitome of dehumanizing.

I know it's a formality, and what it stands for in the context. I still don't think it's appropriate. There's a reason why people who are anti-immigration in the US call undocumented immigrants 'illegal aliens'. It's not a nice thing.

You live in the US, so you probably hear it all the time and don't find it offensive.
