• [UK, KENT] FOG: TWO HUNDRED CARS CRASH!
I can see the Isle of Sheppey from my house, I live across the water from it. The main reason for the crash was that nobody had their lights on, and they were all bunched up. I know people in Sheppey are generally considered retarded but come on, this is just common sense. Unrelated: The sun tends to set over Sheppey if you're on the beach where I live, so there's regularly people cheering about it being "nuked"
that looks way too much like I imagine a real nuke would look like, appearing centered a mile or two above the actual location even
Typical crap british drivers. We need to follow Scandinavia and make it the law to have headlights on throughout the day. I've been in horrendous driving conditions before and people just don't turn their lights on. It's fucking disgusting that these people passed a driving test but can't do something as simple as turning their fucking lights on in bad weather.

I thought it was a bit foggy last night.

So many of these people were idiots. Sticking to at least 70mph with no lights on in visibility that was at the time under 5 metres. I feel so sorry for those that were caught at the back that couldn't slow down in time. WAY too many people can drive these days.
Daytime running lights are becoming law however they are only required on the front of cars.
Yeah they're also crap and dim. If they're going to bring something like that in, they need to be brighter and they need to be on the back too. I think most cars already have that feature... headlights. There's no logical reason to not have headlights on all the time. Yeah, the bulbs blow faster, but I'd rather buy new bulbs every now and then than have someone plough into the back of my car.
I drive through the Rocky Mountains every year from Vancouver to Calgary to see my grandparents. I can tell you right now when shit hits the fan like this most people have not a fucking clue what to do or they they get really cocky. Just a few years back our stretch of road got hit with a freak snow white-out which drastically reduced visibility. The SUV in front of us maintained his normal highway speed and refused to turn on his lights even though he was in a white vehicle in a white-out. Needless to say he was drifting all over the road (even into oncoming traffic) which A) resulting in him flinging rocks everywhere because they pile up in the center of the road. Got three chips in our window from rock damage. And B) If he encountered an oncoming car he would have been killed instantly. Fucking moron. You see the same thing with guys that own those massive pickup trucks which are the size of fucking semi-trucks. They think the best way to deal with poor driving conditions is to just press on the accelerator more. Not only is that retarded but most trucks handle poorly in the snow unless they have weight on th back wheels. The amount of trucks we see upside-down in the ditch is hilarious. Oh yeah, and then you have the people that think it's a good idea to cut-off a loaded semi-truck when the road is covered in compacted snow and visibility is degraded - and when you're driving on a 2-lane road when you're beside a cliff with a 300m drop. Holy shit people have no idea how to handle this sort of shit. The single-most important thing to do is to slow the fuck down and increase spacing and even this basic concept escapes most people. Tailgating in a snowstorm or in foggy conditions is basically playing Russian roulette.
Whiteouts are the fucking worst. I was caught in one last year and visibility was basically reduced to nothing. Such a terrible feeling seeing the taillights of the car ahead of you suddenly disappear completely.
Spoke to someone I know involved. Not only were people driving w/o lights on many were way over the speed limit. People routinely do 90 on that bridge
Wow, the traffic is pretty bad into Silent Hill But in all seriousness, I'm glad no was severely injured from the crashes or died
I truly wonder how some people get driving licenses
the blurred line between confidence and stupidity
This is pretty much a lose-lose situation for driving in, even if you're driving very carefully yourself, some guy behind you going very fast is going to smash into your ass.
Honestly I've never ever had issue with other drivers in the fog. But pedastrians outside of the city - hell yes. Most of all when they decide to grab dark clothing.

It's just so unnecessary that accidents like these happen. These things shouldn't happen at all, especially not because of bad visibility. How the fuck do they have a license if they don't know that they're supposed to see, to be seen, and to "see" potential dangers? Sometimes I actually think it's worth paying roughly 3750USD worth of money to get a drivers license here in Norway.

Idiots who were driving way too fast, its always the same on that bridge, and this time it cost them. No one actually does the speed limit on the crossing to Sheppy, which is how this happened.
