• Study: Canadians live longer, healthier than Americans; universal health care a factor

Stephen Hawking accredits his survival to universal healthcare.
I just came back from hospital(NHS)because the tip of my deep ear-canal headphone came off an got lodged deep in my ear(fuck that, it hurt!). If I had lived in the US it would have probably cost $1,000 to get it removed, even though it only took about 30 seconds.
[img_thumb]http://i39.tinypic.com/2462g7d.jpg[/img_thumb]
I'd agree but democrats seem to support the war too. Anyway Universal Healthcare would only make you live longer if you couldn't afford good insurance. Most of us would barely bump up, if at all.
I don't think it's the health care. It's obviously because Canadians put their milk in bags instead of cartons.
One main argument against Universal Health Care is the long waiting times, if they could fix that there would be no reason to be against it (except taxes I guess). I don't know the extent of the waiting times, but from Archangel's thread it could take months to get a vital brain surgery, so I assume it isn't good at all.

It's usually run on a case-by-case basis. A bypass will be favoured over an ingrown toenail.

All the fat and cholesterol doesn't accumulate in our arteries, there's actually so much of it that it blasts them clean.
you do realise America has some crazy waiting times, right? and UHC countries, although have slightly long waiting periods, isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
America has crazy waiting times? WHAT? I've been taken care of in Canada, I had a bone poking through my leg and I waited 4 hours I think. In the USA, I had a broken arm and I waited like, 10 minutes. The treatment in the USA was a hell of a lot better and the people were nicer.

I didn't even read all the cute responses by the Americans of the forum to try and make a comeback, because all I have to say is this: Hah. You lose.

-snip- You can blame the bad fast-food restruants for our horrible healthcare.
;21704443']Yeah, so? We [America] won alot of wars... (Not lately :frown:) WW2 was a team effort. Canadians did alot in it, just as much as we did. You liked Bush?
