• Toast sandwich is UK's 'cheapest meal'

This will be a great way to troll restaurants. "Would you like the beef bourguignon, sir?" "Nah, I'll have a toast sandwich."
Cheapest food here are hot buns. 50 cents for one, tax free. They are a hobo's dream. They're quite big too, you get a lot for the price. Chocolate chip, raisins or plain all cost the same. It's fucking amazing. Hell, find three bottles by the road and you can use the money from recycling them to buy a hot bun.

I can go cheaper! It's called a 'Bread Sandwich'. It's two slices of bread, with nothing in the middle. Struggling to work out how to go cheaper, though.
what about a toasted toast sandwich?
Too expensive
There has to be something in the middle. Otherwise it fails to be a sandwich.
butter. A butter sandwich
There has to be something in the middle. Otherwise it fails to be a sandwich.
A slice of untoasted bread in the middle~ [editline]16th November 2011[/editline]
I'm not sure how much funding went into 'reading a book'
then why were "scientists" needed at all then again, how the fuck is this Chemistry?
butter. A butter sandwich
Butter is more expensive to obtain than toasted bread. [editline]16th November 2011[/editline]
A slice of untoasted bread in the middle~
Again, it ceases to be a sandwich. Because the bread in the middle isn't different to the outer breads. However, if you had a seeded bread in the middle of two white slices, then it may be viable to be a sandwich.
Okay, following the rules then: 2 slices of bread, with a slice of bread in the middle. Think of the money you'll save having not toasted the middle slice. Edit: I have wasted my 2,000th post on this.
the situtation in britain must be really bad if the toast sandwich is back. are you guys gonna start burning car for warmth li... oh that actually did happen a while back, didn't it...
Okay, following the rules then: 2 slices of bread, with a slice of bread in the middle. Think of the money you'll save having not toasted the middle slice. Edit: I have wasted my 2,000th post on this.
As I previously mentioned, the content in the middle of the two slices must differ to the outer slices. I suggested "Seeded Bread" within and 2 "White Bread Slices" without.
I just went to make one of these for kicks, added too much salt and pepper. :v:
Again, it ceases to be a sandwich. Because the bread in the middle isn't different to the outer breads.
Yes, but you don't have the added cost of the electricity it takes to run the toaster.
Yes, but you don't have the added cost of the electricity it takes to run the toaster.
Thinking from a realistic point of view, passing a current through pieces of wire wouldn't use much electricity.
Thinking from a realistic point of view, passing a current through pieces of wire wouldn't use much electricity.
Uses less not to. That's really what we're getting down to here, pennies.
Uses less not to. That's really what we're getting down to here, pennies.
True, I found some information on an energy efficient toaster.
If someone were to use this toaster every day to cook four slices of bread to average brownness, they would used around 0.05kWh per day and 18kWh per year (at a cost of approximately £3.00).
So £3.00 divided by the days in the year = 0.8p per use Therefore it is CONSIDERABLY cheaper than getting another slice of bread.
Yo dawg we heard you like bread so we put bread in yo bread so you can eat bread while you eat bread.
Why not just eat some cheese on toast instead of what I'm reading as two cold slices of bread with a piece of toast inbetween.
your avatar is a terrible butt.
Butter is more expensive to obtain than toasted bread.
The bread is buttered in the toast sandwich... margarine in between two buttered pieces of bread.
Sounds dry. How about an air sandwich?
Two slices of bread, with the crust torn off and placed between them. Wham.
As I previously mentioned, the content in the middle of the two slices must differ to the outer slices. I suggested "Seeded Bread" within and 2 "White Bread Slices" without.
No, white bread, then middle white bread, and then white bread. It makes sense because the white bread is in the middle, making it different to the other bread slices because usually bread doesn't go in the middle.
I just tried this, it's not too bad, but I wouldn't have it for a regular meal.

poutine is a plus not a minus
then why were "scientists" needed at all then again, how the fuck is this Chemistry?
I think the Royal Society of Chemistry woke up after taking a nap in the 1920s and realized they had to do something to make themselves seem hip and cool so they scoured their latest books for a recent fad and came up with 150 year old toast sandwich
