The only switch that i would make from my old nokia phone would be a modern nokia phone. YOU CANT SWITCH FROM NOKIA THAT EASILY.
I worked with a 3310 for more than 5 years, before I went full steam ahead and bought a 920 last christmas. It's fucking amazing but it will never come close to the reliability the 3310 has, which is still working as fine the day my grandma gave it me. Who had that thing for quite a few years also.
I was looking at Windows phones before my recent purchase of a Nexus 5. The interface looks great and Nokia really breathes quality but once you get used to a certain system you stick with it I guess. The Nexus 5 is the first Android device I've owned whose interface is hiccup free in every aspect by the way; it only takes a 2.26 Ghz quad core ARM to achieve it I guess :v:
My Lumia 925 Only needs a 1.5GHZ dual core ARM and is running very smoothly, even the low end phones like the Lumia 520 has 1GHZ Dual Core ARM and is also running very smoothly for such a low end device. You just don't get the same experience on android, Also 520 will get the wp8.1 update too. The Lumia 930 will come out in June.
I prefer my Lumia 520, even though it's a really cheap Lumia, over the Galaxy S2, just because it works so well.
Most non-Android phone communities have a running-joke that Android takes such high-spec hardware just to run the OS itself. :v: The sad part is I think there is quite a bit of truth to it.
No, it's the awful hardware manufacturers who add a massive amount of bloat to Android. Vanilla Android is buttery smooth on any device-- e.g. Android KitKat(which all these companies are avoiding putting on their devices because they're too busy adding all the bloat to it to kill the point)

I've always used Nokia phones, but after they killed off the N9 and MeeGo I switched to an HTC One. It really is hard switching from Nokia, they used to make such amazing phones. Looking at the 925 though, I think that in two years time I might switch back to Nokia.
I wish they could keep their N9 design language, it looks much more appealing than what that they are announcing
The N9 was a beautiful phone, I definitely don't regret buying it when it came out.
They've been announced officially. The 635 might be my next phone, but whyyyy :( : Display resolution: FWVGA (854 x 480) Hope it is a nice quality screen.
Why did they ditch that design style anyway? It was, to put it bluntly, fucking gorgeous. One of the first fresh new ideas to the smartphone world in YEARS.
My thoughts are it has to do with windows phone. When they switched they had to get competitive with everyone else, which meant bigger screens and better hardware, they rushed the 800 out with the same body as the N9, then they quickly made their flagship 920. The problem is that they just dumped all that hardware into it without taking the time to optimize space, which meant that the 920 was MASSIVE as hell, the only critique it really got on the hardware side was its size and weight. I think that caused the design to become unpopular with the company as the 920 wasn't a commercial success, and they wanted a new design to shake off as much of the "old" Nokia as possible. The 920's thinner counterpart had a completely different design. If you ask me the 925 is really nice looking, way better than the 930. But definitely not as striking as the N9. This is all just assumptions on my part though, so take it with a grain of salt. [editline]2nd April 2014[/editline] There was also the Nokia Lauta, a keyboard version that was cancelled after the new CEO killed off MeeGo It's really no surprise the entire N9 team left and created Jolla (which might be another reason why they ditched the design, since even if a part of the team left, there's no way to maintain the aesthetic cohesion like the N9 had with, say, just the hardware department)
I wonder when this will be released. I'm due both an upgrade and a phone replacement and I hate the look of the 1020. I have the 920 and I'm pretty pleased with it. Accidentally dropped it from two feet up, face down, onto a cement floor. Cracked the front of it to hell, but it still works just fine.

I switched to a Lumia 520 after I shattered my Galaxy S3's screen a couple months ago. Conclusion: Unless you enjoy playing shitty 3D phone games that chew through your battery in about 3 minutes, Windows Phone 8 is fucking beautiful. I was so pleasantly surprised. There are a few apps that haven't made it to WP yet, but that has more to do with its comparatively small market share. I really hope WP gains more traction in the mainstream, because the phone is so fantastic. Especially if you're someone who has a powerful computer that you use at home, there is no need for a super powerful phone when you're out and about. It does everything you need, in style.
Lauta is the N950 [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/archive/0/06/20140310194242!Nokia_N950.jpg[/t] ????
No it isn't, the N950 had an aluminium shell with its own design, the Lauta was a prototype with an N9 styled body (look at the edges of the keyboard, on the lauta they hook upwards like they did on the N7, on the N950 they're flat)
nokia 920 master race. the green one will probably be my upgrade. too bad they dont have red, that's what i have now.
This is making me consider switching from my Nexus 4 when this comes out. I could still stick with Android on my tablet, but it'd be a nice change for my phone.
Not really, Nokia kept Marko Ahtisaari after Meego was cancelled, who is the man behind a lot of the cool industrial designs in the company he resigned after MS's acquisiton of Nokia's devices unit.
Oh, my bad I honestly completely forgot about the guy. Well a lot of things make sense now, the 925 was made during Nokia's partnership with Microsoft but before the acquisiton, after it everything was kind of uglier. Then again the phone that the 930's design is based on was also made before the acquisition, so I dunno. Either way I hope he stays in the industry.
Also worth noting is how the Lumia series has arguably the best cameras you can find on a phone, some models better than others.
Nokia makes some sexy phones.
Here's the breakdown of everything going into 8.1 Looks really fuckin solid
I've drop my 920 like once a week and it still works like a charm and you really couldnt tell I've dropped it so many times. Nokia makes good shit.
Oh, I thought they were the same, It's still incredibly sad how there's nothing compared to the N9 in the market even 3 years later, I still use mine as a daily driver sometimes, it holds well specially with apkenv support and the openwarehouse
It's really good, the only reason I'm selling mine is because I could use the money. (and because I still have its predecessor, the N900)
My N4 is buttery smooth with stock 4.4 and so was my lumia 800 on WP 7.8, I just had to switch from windows phone because there was no support for 7 anymore Everyone was so tied up on 8 that nobody paid any attention to the old version which was fair enough since it was old and WP8 had the ability of being ported with ease to W8 and the Xbox One It looks nice but I don't think I'm going back to windows phone soon, the experience I had on it was really great and fast but the app space is low and for a lot of apps that come out they mostly take a while to get onto Windows apart from Android or iOS
Behold! A phone which looks just like every other phone! ~whoah~ I dont get why people get so excited, i can see the main advantages from upgrading being slightly faster CPU, slightly bigger screen, slightly better camera, but that honestly isn't that interesting.

There Livegaming a much better 3rd party app and many other 3rd and native apps. What app are you specifically missing?
This is making me want to switch from iOS to this phone once my contract runs its time. Problem is, I'm not sure how many apps are on iOS that are on WP8.1. I'm fairly certain I will lose most of my apps. Truth be told, I could get rid of a lot of them, but still...

The facebook messenger is there if you mean that messanger. A friend of mine has a wp7 too and he was pissed when he heard that he couldn't get wp8 on it. So i am going to sell him my Lumia 925 for a cheap price.

What kind of life does it normally get?! Also
Which specific apps are you using? (BOM weather app) TripGo (Australian public transport app) Would it be easy to transfer over to Windows Phone too?
