They also really don't want a heavier prison sentence. They tend not to be total sociopathic nutjobs too. With that, we can pull a likely conclusion that any given armed robber doesn't intend on murdering people, they just want to dash and grab. I'm sure someone can pull up exact statistics or whatnot though.
