Its not quite comparable, the Atom in your PC may be an utter pile of crap but its still quite a bit faster than the ARM chip in the Blackberry, even if it has a similar clockspeed.
Oh right haha :)
I was worrying that I'd have to upgrade...
Phew :v:
BB has been dying for a while now. No matter how great BB10 is it's gonna be hard for them to find a place.
Considering the number of active users has been climbing since 2003, I have trouble believing they are "dying".
You still do :v:
The Intel Atom is meant for low power netbooks, not a desktop computer.
True, YouTube bluescreens it. fml.
Intel's Atom Z2460(an Atom chip for phones) is much faster than the Snapdragon S4 dual at 1.5GHz. Anandtech says it best.
Remembering that Atom is a 5 year old CPU core that performs at the level of a 10 year old mainstream notebook CPU puts all of this progress in perspective.
So yah. The Atom is faster. The problem is the bloated OS it's trying to run on your computer.

Wow and Apple dropped from $700 at their best ever to $450 despite making the 4th best corporate profit in history. Guess they'll be bankrupt pretty soon too eh? Do you have any idea what the patents RIM has relating to their encryption and messaging technologies would be worth to other companies? Even if they stop making phones someday, they're not going to die.

seeing the similar speeds between the two processors makes me wonder, what actually makes the atom faster than the snapdragon?
sorry, I'm not good with processors and the like...
Blackberry phones are so bad. I have this
[t]http://onlygizmos.com/content/2011/04/BlackBerry-Style-9670-smartphone-2.jpg[/t]
It's slow and it has frozen up on me many times, even when I'm just using one of the default apps, then it takes like 5 minutes to reboot. Not to mention the keypad is small as fuck so it's a pain in the ass to type anything. So yeah, probably won't be buying a blackberry. like ever. again.
You clearly don't get the whole point of BB10 which is to ditch their past OS and reinvent themselves.

is that clamshell or does it slide?
Architecture, for each clock cycle an Intel atom can get more work done than the snapdragon.
so basically the way it was built? and the physical size of the processor?
Unless they do something more drastic I give blackberry 5 more years to exist

lol but its not drastic
Oh Christ, this argument, after two years of overclocking, kernel swapping, ROM re-flashing, homescreen replacing and re-skinning my phone I'm completely and utterly fucking sick of it.
I'd rather have it work adequately out of the box than half assing and giving you the opportunity to fix the manufacturers fuckups.
As a galaxy s i9000 user I completely agree with this
The only android phones anyone can use properly out of the box are high end ones released in the last ~1 year. Everything else is laggy horse shit unless you are prepared to spend huge amounts of time 'hacking' them (roms, kernels, etc.).
I still use my Blackberry Bold.
It's still fine as fuck.

I actually have one of these right now also and I haven't had any issues like that. Although, reboot time is a pain, but It's not like I have to do it all the time.
As far as looks/feel, this thing is pretty retro. (retro in a good way)
Edit - The browser does randomly crash sometimes. Does that happen to you?

Except when I try to call you and it freezes :)

Because I have a shit app installed that breaks it.
Who the fuck are you anyway?
I don't really want to get hyped over this, considering that the problems they've had with their older phones. I have a Blackberry Bold and a Tour before that, and it's been nothing but problems for me. I have downloaded their "We're sorry for the Blackberry server Outage" app collection, and half of them are silly little Java games, while the "Post-it note on your home screen" actually edits a stickynote into the wallpaper and saves it as a separate image. WHY. If you use ANY of their phones too long (~1-2 months) the phone starts freezing, crashing, and not working the way it should.
Looking at the videos though, it seems they might have changed somewhat. I might might MIGHT look into getting their keyboard version with BB10, but I'm going to wait a LONG time for reviews and how the phone works, etc.

BB10 is basically a complete reworking. Judging it based on the previous ones considering how archaic they are, is like judging Android 4.x based on 2.1 Eclair.

I personally use an HTC Radar (WP7) and I find my brother's SII pleasant to use without any fiddling. The screen is great and the OS keeps up quite well. It's not as smooth as my WP7 device, but it can do a lot more shit and it's not that big of a difference.
solution: don't buy shitty cheap (LG generally whatever the prie = shit) android phones and expect them to be good
My sister and dad haven't had any better luck with their Androids.
My dad has had literally no issues with his HTC Rezound and he has no clue on anything but apps, texts and calls. So he does no power management at all and leaves 4G running constantly. Any issues I had with my Galaxy Nexus have been self induced (due to flashing nightly ROMs etc) or Verizon being dipshits not releasing the latest radio firmware yet (or 4.2.1 for that matter).
Its all anecdotal.
Customization is a bad thing?
customization of the operating system by OEMs is awful hell yes
im sick of getting an android phone that looks nothing like android, runs half as fast and is loaded with tonnes of adware (though the carrier is halfway to blame for that0
Skype? BlackBerry devices (like the Playbook) always impress me technologically, but they tend to have very poor 3rd party app support. For example, the Playbook would be twice as useful if it had a Skype app.
Android allows you to disable any pre-installed apps without rooting so it's not a big deal really.
To delete them and get the actual space back you need to root but if you just want to stop them from running (which is the only thing that will affect performance) it's simple
As for UI differences I don't know about all of them but Sense and TouchWiz don't change all that much

Uh Touchwiz and Sense change pretty much the entirety of the UI. Default apps, launcher, theme, etc etc. Any sense of Holo design is usually eradicated.
I hope this or Windows Phone get big. The iOS and Android duopoly is not fun, because I feel Android does not have good enough quality control and it's interface is still slow cause java. I also want some more high quality OS's and phones not made of shitty plastics
i dont want to computer janitor my phone, like ever
looks good but still, dual core phones in 2013? come on guys get your research in motion!
